Head out into Yellowstone with a local guide to try and spot a wolf, pay a visit to the cool alpine region of Grand Teton and then finish up in Jackson Hole.
Journey across three states of America, starting in Colorado's capital of Denver and finishing in the former outlaw town of Jackson, Wyoming
Visits to the famous landmarks of Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial are sandwiched between trips across the stunning landscapes of the Badlands and the underground Wind Cave
Take a scenic drive through the spectacular mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers of Grand Teton National Park, one of America's natural treasures
The Wild West is ingrained into American history and culture. Stay in the frontier town of Cody, named after Buffalo Bill Cody, and catch a reenactment of a famous shootout
Yellowstone National Park is a natural wonderland of hot spring and alpine forests. Walk to the steaming geyser of Old Faithful one day and track wolves with local experts the next
There are a couple of really long driving days on this trip, especially from Denver to Custer and then from Custer to Cody. The trip has been broken up as much as possible, with a couple of two- or three-night stopovers in some locations, so you'll have plenty of time to rest.
You'll be travelling in a van with a group of travellers, so conditions may feel a little cramped. This is all part of the adventure, however, and you might even make some new friends.
As you'll be travelling through cattle ranch country, there will be a lot of meat served in these regions (beef and bison). Vegetarians may find meal selection limited.
A lot of the places you visit in South Dakota are in prairie country, so expect warm days but cool mornings and evenings. It's a good idea to use sun protection and drink lots of water during the days, and bring warm clothing for the nights.
