Whether you choose to wander through Chinatown, Little India, the Botanic Gardens and National Orchid Garden, the Kranji War Memorial or a glitzy five-star hotel, Singapore has something for everyone. Why not kick off the trip with a bowl of spicy char kway teow (stir-fry noodles) from a street stall and dine as the locals do.
Depart the hustle and bustle of Singapore and say 'selamat detang' to Malaysia. Absorb the easygoing vibes of the historic port-city of Melaka while admiring the unique combination of Chinese, Portuguese, French and Hindu influenced architecture dotted throughout the city.
Combining Indian, Chinese and Malay cultures, Kuala Lumpur is a melting pot of cosmopolitan activity. Stay in the heart of the action, fill up on some delicious hawker style foods from a street stall and venture to Menara Tower and Bukit Bintang.
Enjoy a free day to explore KL. Perhaps book a ticket to get a view of the city from the from the Petronas Towers or visit the Islamic Arts Museum and National Mosque.
Tranquil and lush, escape the big city and head to the Cameron Highlands. Famous for its tea and extensive hill stations, this is a wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing stroll and sip a cup of the region's best brew.
Farewell the countryside and head to the ocean. Discover the wonders of Penang Island on a rickshaw ride through the streets of Georgetown. Check out the city's exquisite museums, sleepy temples or perhaps even meet the colourful occupants of a butterfly farm.
Today your leader will take you on a guided orientation walk through the Georgetown area, to check out the shophouses, street art and the Penang Museum. The rest of the day you are free to Check out Kek Lok Sii Temple (the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia), Khoo Kongsi (amazingly ornate and one of the oldest clan houses in Malaysia), Cheong Fat Tze Museum (fascinating if you have an interest in Feng Shui). Or you can take the Funicular Railway up Penang for views across the island. If you want more of the beach or want a unique Penang experience, grab a Taxi over to Batu Ferringhi or take the unspoilt trails of Malaysia's smallest National Park at Teluk Bahang.
Wave a fond goodbye to Malaysia and head into Thailand by minibus. Settle into Ao Nang with a stroll along the tranquil beach or consider a visit to a tailor to buy some custom-made garments.
Krabi is a great place to experience a little adventure, so why not go rockclimbing, scuba diving or hire a kayak to explore the aqua-blue seas.
Surrounded by thick jungle, towering limestone cliffs and fast-flowing waterfalls, Khao Sok strikes the perfect balance between full-throttle adventure and restful relaxation. Tackle one of the island’s challenging jungle nature hikes to spot monkeys swinging in the canopy above, rent a canoe for a relaxed paddle or get up close to lake Cheow Lan with a bit of adventurous river tubing.
We have a change of scenery today, and head up into the hills, where we spend a night in our bunglows set in the jungle.
There is plenty of options to consider such as, tackling one of the park walking trails looking out for local wildlife hiding amongst the forest or taking a tour to the stunning nearby lake Cheow Lan.
Today travel to Surat Thani by minivan (approx 2.5 hours). Board an overnight train to Bangkok (approx 13 hrs). Our train is basic but comfortable - air-conditioned, sleeping in bunks with shared facilities.
The final stop on this adventure is in Thailand's capital. Bangkok is home to a wealth of historic sights, world-class shopping and a raucous party scene, and is worth spending some extra time in. Unwind from this South-East Asian exploration with a Thai massage or by sipping on a mai tai in any of Bangkok's luxurious hotel bars.
