The total travel time for driving between the two destinations is 3 hours and 2 minutes but this time can be extended depending on what time of the day you're making the journey and whether it's during a heavy-traffic period. Before embarking on your drive, make sure to check the weather conditions as this could also slow you down.

Travelling from Glasgow to Inverness by train

The most popular way to travel from Glasgow to Inverness is by train. Not only is there up to 11 trains departing from Glasgow Central to Inverness daily, but the total travel time is only slightly longer than driving between the two destinations at 3 hours and 15 minutes. These services are operated by ScotRail and are extremely reliable so you don't have to worry about cancellations or late departure times. 

Tickets start from £40 and can go up to as much as £120 depending on the time of year you're travelling in and the type of ticket you're after. These tickets can be easily purchased online or from Glasgow Central train station. 

Travelling from Glasgow to Inverness by plane 

Flying from Glasgow to Inverness is also a great option if you're in a hurry and want to arrive at your destination quickly. The flight time between Glasgow International Airport (GLA) and Inverness Airport (INV) is just over an hour, however, there are limited non-stop flights. If you did have to stop over on your journey this is likely to add hours to your total travel time so be mindful of booking the right flight.
