Why you'll love this trip
  • Who doesn't love Ice Cream? In Cienfuegos, visit a Coppelia ice cream parlour and try the most famous ice-cream in Cuba. A hit for all the family!
  • Explore the faded glory of Havana, one of the finest colonial cities in the Americas, from the back of a fabulous vintage car.
  • Explore Soroa, an area known as the "Rainbow of Cuba", where orchids and bird life fill the forest and there are tumbling waterfalls and crystal clear water holes to swim in.
  • Explore the huge limestone caves at Cueva del Indo on foot and by boat. Wind your way along the cave’s underground river with an expert guide and surround yourself with stalactites and stalagmites.
  • Enjoy a farm lunch at the edge of Topes de Collantes National Park and fill your plate with tasty creole food like juicy pork and smoked banana chips made with ingredients from neighbouring farms.

Is this trip right for you?
  • The guesthouses (casas) we use are much nicer than your average Cuban dwelling and each room is unique. Regardless of where you stay, power cuts and breaks in hot water supply are sometimes unavoidable, as in any developing country – but we believe that this is all a part of the local experience. To help set your expectations correctly, please read the ‘Accommodation’ section of the Essential Trip Information.
  • Luxuries such as air conditioning, and even kitchen sinks, are often scarce. Part of the experience here is learning to appreciate everyday Cuban resourcefulness.
  • There's plenty of time to eat the delights of the sea, but it's good to keep in mind that accompaniments are not as expansive as in another countries, due to limitations on imports.
  • Internet access can be hard to come by, and when it's available it's often unreliable and expensive. This is, on the other hand, a great opportunity to take a break from modern devices and have a true holiday.
  • Cuba is different and that’s what makes it such a fascinating destination. You will find that things don’t always go according to plan or work the way they do back home. Regulations concerning foreigners and currency may appear strange to you, buses and planes often run late and sometimes the water in your bathroom can run cold and the electricity fail. In order to get the most out of your holiday, a degree of patience, good humour and understanding is a definite advantage. Cuba may not be wealthy in a monetary sense, however if you approach your holiday with an open and enquiring mind, the warm welcome you receive from Cubans will ensure you a rich and rewarding holiday experience.

Important notes

1. Please note that these trips are for adults and children travelling together and there must be at least one child under 18 with you.
2. Minimum age for children on this trip is 5 years old.
3. A discount of 10% applies on this trip to children 17 years and under at time of travel.
4. A Single Supplement is available on this trip, please ask your booking agent for more information.
5. It is common for Cuban houses to have bar gates locking the access in and out of the house during the night. We constantly work with our “Casa” owner to make them see the risk this poses in case of an emergency exit is required. We have agreed with the properties we work with that such gates will remain unlock during the night and/or you will have the necessary means to open them if required (a set of keys for example). If you have any concerns in this regard please contact the emergency number listed in the Essential Trip information and while on tour speak to your tour leader
6. Travel is always an adventure and, as destinations reopen, there are a few challenges as everyone gets back up to speed and adjusts to the new normal. Our leaders are experts when it comes to dealing with anything unexpected along the journey, so pack your understanding and flexibility, sit back and relax while they take care of the rest.
7. We recommend travelling to Cuba via Canada, Europe, South or Central America. Please refer to the ‘Passports, visas and entry requirements’ section of the Essential Trip Information for further details.
8. Please advise bedding configuration requests to your booking agent at least 14 days prior to travel to aid guesthouse and rooming allocations, which are finalized 10 days prior to departure based on the configuration of each travelling party. You may request your confirmed guesthouse name and address inside 7 days of departure from your booking agent. Rest assured, the transfer driver will know the address of your assigned guesthouse.
8. We recommend you bring enough cash to last your whole time in Cuba. This is currently the best option and will provide you with the best value for money. Please see the ‘Money Matters’ section of the Essential Trip Information for more details.

We had an amazing time on our family trip to Cuba. We chose to Cuba as a destination because I had visited in 2006 and loved it and we thought it was a safe location to take our 5yo son. Our guide made our experience an incredible one. We intend to return to see more of what Cuba has to offer but would highly recommend this trip to others.

Cuba is a place like no other. Our family trip included a unique mix of Cuban cigars, beaches, waterfalls, countryside, American oldtimer cars, rum, history, culture and delicious local food and the vibrant city of Havana, led by an excellent tour guide.

the family trip to Cuba was an absolutely fantastic experience and we got to see a lot of this beautiful country in a relatively short time with packed itinerary planned by intrepid. A little more organisation and responsiveness from intrepid would have helped though.

Visiting Cuba with your family is once in a lifetime experience. The Cubans are so friendly and welcoming and there is so much to learn and experience in Cuba with unique experiences to be enjoyed. Thoroughly recommend. Take advice on where and when to change money in advance. Do not change at the airport.
