Africa cycling tours

Ever wondered if you could cycle through an African National Park?

When people picture lycra-clad cyclists climbing epic switchbacks or zooming down scenic coastal roads, Africa doesn’t usually figure. But those people have probably never heard of the off-road tracks that snake between Longido and Lengai in Tanzania. They’ve probably never seen Morocco’s earthen village in Ait Benhaddou.

African cycling trips are certainly a different gear in terms of unique adventure and the perfect combo for those who like their wildlife safari with an added dash of exercise. We’ll lead you through game parks and cities, along volcanic tracks and across sandy deserts – all on two wheels. These are cycling tours, but not as you know them…

Great trip great country great food great leaders. Every day was different from the beach to snow to desert old towns and life that hasn’t changed in centuries. Accommodation is basic but ok. Interactions with locals is amazing. Well worth the trip.

Cycle Morocco

The cycling in Morocco was very good with lovely scenery. The bicycle I was given was an older model, not the new ones mentioned on website. The group leader, Hicham Bouhrazen, and other trip staff were absolutely excellent and provided top service. The accommodation was poor and below expectations.

Cycle Morocco

Local tour guide leaders always provide the best experiences and no exception with Hicham Bouhrazen and his team. The rides are arduous with the hills and winds but the stunning scenery, camaraderie , meeting the Berber people living in the caves, the Sahara Desert camp ( you'll need a scarf to cover your face from the wind blown sands) and camel rides , and the people will enrich your experience. Don't overpack, laundry service is cheap and easily available when you have a two night stay in a town. Toiletries provided in hotels are adequate unless you're fussy about your shampoo-keep space for the leather goods, trinkets, shawls, scarfs and rose flower products when you're in the Valley of the Roses. Wipes, electrolyte sachets, a long charging lead as sometimes the charging points are little away from the bedside. If you have the opportunity to have a hamman and a massage take it ! The tour leaders and the team are incredibly patient and caring like ours were, and they'll sort out any issues- nothing is too much for them ! when they tell you to ride as close to the right side of the road, or watch the uneven road surface at certain points they know why! The drivers can be a tad reckless. The roads are generally in good condition but sometimes are very uneven and could be risky. The Moroccan people are really lovely, very welcoming , courteous and accepting of visitors. A smile, a wave and a Hello is returned . This is a fabulous trip with so much to see and do. I felt it helpful to arrive a little fit/ bike fit which went a long way to enjoying the cycling and pacing myself in the early days was helpful later on. Enjoy !!

Cycle Morocco is a fabulous way to experience a large & varied area of Morocco, keeping fit at the same time. The food is fabulous so no need to worry about being hungry. The daily distances biking allow a good workout on the hills & a real opportunity to enjoy the countryside & interact with the locals you’ll encounter, all who will smile, laugh & encourage you on your way. Meeting & having tea with local families was one of many highlights. We were fortunate to have Hicham Bouhrazen & Rachid as our guides as well as our amazing drivers. Bikes were perfect for the variety of terrain.

The Cycling Morocco trip has a great itinerary that provides a nice mix of culture and cycling in a fascinating country. The trip leader and support crew were fabulous. Not for timid cyclists - there are big hills to climb and descend.
