Do I need a COVID-19 vaccine to join a trip to the Barossa Valley?

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises). However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

How do I get to Barossa Valley?

Our Barossa Valley trips start in Adelaide, South Australia. The region is located 70 kilometres northeast of Adelaide. It takes roughly 1-1.5 hours to drive to Barossa Valley from Adelaide. You can also take a Metro train from Adelaide Railway Station to Gawler Central. From Gawler, transfer to Barossa via a local bus operated by Link SA.

What's the weather like in the Barossa?

Barossa Valley experiences a mild climate similar to the Mediterranean, which is what makes it such an amazing place to grow grapes. It typically has cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers with plenty of sunshine. Autumn days are balmy and dry with cool nights, while spring is mild and sunny.

You can have an amazing time all year round in Barossa, but summer and autumn are generally considered to be the best times to visit. Autumn is also when the much anticipated Barossa Vintage Festival is on.
