Explore some of America's greatest national parks by bike

The glitz and glare of Las Vegas may seem a world away from the vast, empty chasms of Zion National Park or shredded terrain of Bryce Canyon, but you'll get to see all these sides of the US (and then some) on this two-wheeled road trip. Making good your exit from the original City of Sin, be welcomed back to nature with the scent of pines and aspens on the ride through Dixie National Forest. Opt for some hiking around the Rim Trail or Peek-a-boo Loop in to Bryce Canyon National Park, check out the views on offer from Rainbow Point and keep an eye out for elk along the Virgin River before enjoying two unforgettable nights camped out in Zion National Park.

Welcome to the USA! Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting today at 6 pm. Please look for a note in the hotel lobby or ask reception where it will take place. If you can't arrange a flight that will arrive in time, you may wish to arrive a day early so you're able to attend. We'll be happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability). If you're going to be late, please inform the hotel reception. We'll be collecting your insurance details and next of kin information at this meeting, so please ensure you have all these details to provide to your leader.
Las Vegas may be the gambling capital of the world, but there's plenty to do if gambling isn't your thing. We recommend you arrive a few days early to make the most of this exciting city. Hit the shops, feel your stomach drop on a rooftop roller coaster or simply stroll along the Strip, soaking up the glitz and gaudiness. In the evening, perhaps 'carb load' for the adventure ahead at an 'all you can eat' buffet, check out one of the many shows on offer or party the night away in a Vegas nightclub.
Today we transfer from Las Vegas to Cedar City (approx 5 hours) where we will unload the bikes and get set up to start cycling. We begin our ride in Dixie National Forest where you will experience a few ups and downs among the sandstone formations, aspens and pines, and flat farmland. We then join a paved bike path through the Red Canyon, whose spectacular red rock formations are a taste of things to come tomorrow in Bryce Canyon.
Today's ride is a long one - approximately 120 km/75 miles - but there is the option of hitching a ride in the support vehicle for part of the way.
Our destination is our hotel in Bryce Canyon City, where we will spend the next two nights.
"Mysterious", "breathtaking", "out of this world", are only a few of the descriptions offered by past visitors to Bryce Canyon National Park. This morning we will rest the bikes and take to the park's incredible system of trails on foot. Some of the options, depending on how the group are feeling, are the easy Rim Trail, the moderate Queen's Garden Trail or the more strenuous Peek-a-boo Loop. Wherever walk, you will encounter a kaleidoscope of colours and a fantasy land of rock spires that will leave you searching for your own way to describe this 'indescribable' place.
In the afternoon we will get back on the bikes and ride to Rainbow Point, one of the best viewpoints in the park. We then return to the hotel where you have a free night to rest and relax.
We have another long ride today (approx 120 km/75 miles) along the Virgin River to Zion National Park. Although long, the ride is mostly flat, with a gradual descent. Zion is a great place to ride, with its pink and red striped cliffs rising up on either side. Keep an eye out for bighorn sheep and elk along the trail.
On arrival into the Zion are we will ride to our campsite in Springdale, where we will set up camp for the night. Springdale is a small town right at the entrance to Zion National Park. If you're not too exhausted from the day's ride, and the night is clear, head outside for a spectacular star show.
Today is a free day to tackle some of the hikes in Zion National Park. There's a variety of trails to choose from and you'll have plenty of opportunity to explore among the park's soaring cliffs and cascading waterfalls. Warm up with a gentle walk to the lower end of the Emerald Pools. Continue onto the upper end of the pools, passing a waterfall on the way to Zion's 'beach'. Another great hike is The Narrows, where you walk along (and in) the river through the slot canyon. If you're feeling ambitious, perhaps enjoy the park's most famous challenge: Angels Landing. After a strenuous hike along the narrow ridge of the cliffs, you'll be rewarded with a panorama of the red landscape. Please be aware that this isn't for the faint-hearted and requires a moderate level of fitness.
Spend a final morning enjoying the scenery of Zion National Park before transferring back to Las Vegas. Clean up at the hotel, and then perhaps head out for a celebratory dinner with the group, or a limo tour of the Strip.
Today your trip comes to an end. As there are no activities planned, you are free to depart the accommodation at any time.
As there's a great deal to do in Las Vegas, we recommend staying a few extra days to make the most of this exciting city. If you need help booking extra accommodation, our reservations team will be happy to assist. If you do decide to stay on, perhaps take a helicopter trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. The trip includes champagne, beverages and a light snack, all served above the Colorado River. The tour takes approximately two-and-a-half hours altogether.
