Taste the peppery treats of Sichuan cuisine in Chengdu and enjoy a visit to a farming village learning about the food grown and what life is like for people out of the cities. End the adventure in Shanghai, where fresh food markets, an excellent bar culture and a range of amazing architecture await.

Days 1-3 Beijing

Beijing has a long and colourful history and this rapidly modernising city is an amazing whirl of ancient sites, modern buildings, bicycles, people, shops and eateries.

Days 4-5 Xi'an

As the start of the ancient trading route the Silk Road and an imperial centre for 2,000 years, Xi'an has a fascinating history and rich cultural sites to discover.

Days 6-7 Chengdu

Chengdu has plenty of traditional flavour with its famous tea houses, numerous markets and as the home of Sichuan cuisine, known the world over for its spiciness.

Day 8 Huanglongxi & Sichuan Countryside

Step back in time in ancient town of Huanglongxi. With its well-preserved Qing dynasty buildings and tasty street foods, this town delights not only the tastebuds but all the senses.

Days 9-10 Shanghai

Blending 21st-century architecture with old-world character, Shanghai is the vibrant pulse of new China.
