Day 1 Zuberec

Arrive in the mountain village of Zuberec, the setting for the coming week’s winter adventure.

Days 2-3 Skiing/snowboarding

Choose whether to take to the slopes for some downhill fun on one plank or two, with a morning lesson to master the balancing basics. Take a break from the action to visit the thermal pools at Oravice and let the warm soothing waters work their magic.

Day 4 Dog sledding

Learn to glide across the ice-covered landscapes by a very different method today. Explore the white wilderness on a dog-powered sled and let the adrenaline of having up to six canine friends running at full pelt take over.

Day 5 Slovak lunch/Sledding

After a leisurely morning, head out into the mountains to experience a deliciously filling lunch with a Slovak family and get an insight into their rural lifestyle. Hit the slopes once again, this time enjoying the simple joy of sledding. Finish the day experiencing some more local culture, with a visit to the magical museum of Orava village. Explore its wooden houses, illuminated by lanterns and accompanied by traditional music.

Day 6 Snowshoeing

Breathe in the fresh air as the family dons snowshoes to go for a winter-style walk. Glide across the deep mountain snow through the glistening trees of Rohace Forest, and forge new routes across shimmering mountains to reach a frozen waterfall suspended in time.

Days 7-8 At leisure

After a dazzling few days, choose whether to perfect some of the skills already picked up on the slopes or perhaps try another popular winter sport, such as cross-country skiing. In the evening, why not get together with the rest of the group for some more rustic fare before the night draws in on this exhilarating winter escape.
