Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises). However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

Noosa is a 2-hour drive north of Brisbane along the Bruce Highway. Sunshine Coast Airport is the closest airport to Noosa. If you fly into Sunshine Coast Airport, you will need to drive, catch a public bus or a taxi, or arrange a shuttle bus transfer to Noosa. The trip from Sunshine Coast Airport to Noosa takes approximately 40 minutes by car and slightly longer on the bus which stops along the way.

It's easy to walk around Noosa as most of the area is flat, aside from the hill between Noosa Heads and Noosa Junction. If you would like to travel further afield, local bus services are available. You can also catch a taxi, get an Uber or rent a hire car. 

Anytime of year is a good time to visit Noosa. Summer is hot and humid and perfect for swimming. Spring and Autumn are cooler and Noosa Heads and the surrounding area tends to be quieter. In winter, whales are frequently spotted in the surrounding waters. School holidays are exceptionally busy and best avoided as Noosa accommodation prices are high and popular spots such as Noosa's Main Beach, Little Cove Beach, and the Eumundi Markets can be crowded. It can also be difficult to get a seat on some Noosa tours and at popular Noosa restaurants.

Noosa is a laid back destination so pack casual clothes such as active wear for enjoying Noosa National Park, casual dresses and shorts and t-shirts. Pack a few smart casual outfits or resort wear if you're planning on visiting any of the more upmarket restaurants and bars on Hastings Street. Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are a must, even in winter, as the sun reflects off the sparkling ocean. There is a convenience store in Hastings Street and a supermarket at Noosa Junction if you have forgotten to pack any essentials.  

Noosa is a laid back destination so people tend to wear casual clothes such as active wear and shorts and t-shirts. However, you might want to dress up in smart casual clothes or resort wear to fit in with the stylish local crowd at the upmarket restaurants and bars on Hastings Street. 

There is good WiFi coverage in and around Noosa. If you are visiting the Noosa North Shore or exploring the Noosa Everglades you may experience short periods with no internet access.
