Explore medieval cities at sunset and kick back on island beaches

If your family is in need of a holiday, there’s no place better to find something for everyone than stunning Croatia. On this eight-day trip, you’ll start and end inside the city walls of Dubrovnik – a truly unique city (home to Game of Thrones fame) full of hole-in-the-wall restaurants serving up fresh, local dishes, plenty of walking opportunities with epic coastal views. Take a ferry to the island of Lastovo (the only island in Croatia declared a nature reserve) and enjoy a fresh farm-to-table dinner at a family-owned farm. Learn about the local flora and fauna, swim in the sea and join a local astronomer for a spot of stargazing. Then in Korcula, you’ll learn how to make Makaruni and enjoy some free time to hike, bike or laze as you wish.

Why you'll love this trip

Experience the best of Croatia, from Dubrovnik's famed medieval-like city walls to the beautiful islands of Korcula and Lastovo.

Spend the day onboard a boat with an expert nature guide to learn all about the local inhabitants of Lastovo, stopping in coves and picturesque bays for a swim along the way.

Learn how to make Makaruni – a traditional pasta native to a small town on the island Korcula – during a hands-on cooking class.

Stargaze with a local astronomer on the island of Lastovo – widely regarded as one of the best spots in the world to view the night sky due to its extremely low light pollution. Learn about constellations and hike to the top of the village for the best views.

Enjoy plenty of free time to choose your own adventures, explore the cities and villages and enjoy the gorgeous cove beaches. Spend time in nature and soak in the relaxed Mediterranean way of life.

By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, Humana Zagreb. Donations help provide job opportunities and education programs in sustainable fashion and textiles for people with disabilities.

Is this trip right for you?

  • Croatia’s coast is very hilly and mountainous, meaning steps are an inherent feature of the landscape. You will have to be able to easily lift your luggage and carry it up and down stairs and inclines. Also, stone streets become slippery when wet, so good walking shoes are recommended.
  • Summer temperatures can be extreme in Croatia (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability for that season.
  • Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together.
