What to do on a tour from Casablanca to Marrakech

Explore the blue city of Chefchaouen
Pretty doesn’t even begin to describe Chefchaouen’s winding alleyways and cobbled plazas full of bright, blue-shaded buildings. Exploring this medina will take you past photo op after photo op with colourful doorways, quiet cafes, and ancient monuments a sight your eyes will never tire of.Â

Take a camel ride through the Sahara
When in Rome, you eat pizza for breakfast and when in Morocco, you ride camels through the Sahara Desert for a true taste of the local lifestyle. Look out over the vast golden-orange sand in wonder as you pass the peaks of the magical desert dunes that dot this extraordinary landscape.Â

Eat dinner with a Berber family
When your legs have had enough, it’s time for your tastebuds to do the exploring and there’s no better way to immerse yourself in Morocco than through the complexities of this country’s cuisine with a local Berber family. Chat to your hosts about traditional dishes and daily life while tucking into a dinner of tajine, couscous, bagheri, and pastilla.Â

Wander through markets in Fes
Often described as a vibrant, noisy, and fascinating feast for the senses, Fes is the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco and one wander through its twisting streets and sectional souks is enough to make you fall in love. From the smell of spices and soups to the sound of copper being hammered, you can see and hear it all at this lively, local market.Â

Visit the ancient Hassan II Mosque
There are plenty of impressive sights scattered throughout Casablanca but there’s one that stands above the rest – the Mosque of Hassan II. Large and imposing, this epic monument is situated on both land and sea and is one of the only religious structures open to non-Muslims. Standing at 210 metres tall, you won’t be able to miss it and once you’ve seen it, you won’t be able to forget it.Â

Go on a cycling tour of Marrakech
Take the heavy load off and give your feet a break by exploring the awe-inducing city of Marrakech on two wheels. Whether you want to zip through the winding streets easily and quickly or go further than you would’ve been able to by walking, this city’s cultural secrets are waiting to be discovered from heritage museums full of ancient artifacts to palaces set on acres of lush greenery.Â

Please visit the relevant consular website of the country or countries you’re visiting for detailed and up-to-date visa information specific to your nationality. Your consultant will also be happy to point you in the right direction with acquiring visas. Visas can take several weeks to process, so familiarize yourself with any requirements as soon as you have booked your trip to allow for processing time. The climate in Morocco varies wildly according to the season and area of travel. In the lowlands, the cooler months from October to April are popular among visitors. This time of year is pleasantly warm to hot (around 30°C) during the day and cool to cold (around 15°C) at night. Winter in the higher regions often brings snow and can therefore get seriously cold, particularly at night. Tourists flock to the coastline from June to September for fun in the sun, with warm mostly rain-free days. Further inland it can get hot and rain is rare, which makes the best times to travel March to June and September to December.
As a Muslim country, Morocco observes Ramadan. If you are planning to go on holiday in Morocco during Ramadan, it is important to consider that many restaurants and shops will either be closed or operating on reduced hours during this time.
Generally, Morocco is considered to be a fairly safe destination for solo travellers, even females. However, precautions should be undertaken so that you feel more comfortable moving around this country's cities such as travelling with a group (or at least one other person) when going out at night, sticking to well-lit and populated streets, and not staying out too late. Remember when travelling via public transport, always keep your belongings in a safe place where you can easily touch/see them.Â
If you don't want to take a tour where all the transportation is already organised and arranged for you, there are several other ways you can travel between Casablanca and Morocco including flying and catching public transport. One of the more popular ways to travel through the country is by train as it allows you to see more of the incredible landscapes and will only take you around 3 hours.Â
Absolutely. All passengers travelling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of your trip. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your leader on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.
