From hush-hush hiking trails through the ‘back door’ of Petra to connecting with craftsmen in Japan, this cohort of 10 new adventures and experiences offers an elevated way to explore in 2026.

1. Enjoy farm-to-cup coffee in Ecuador
If exploring the Andes and Cotopaxi National Park, and staying in the history-steeped Hacienda La Cienega (built from volcanic stone) aren’t enough, the new nine-day Premium Ecuador trip also promises to serve up a brew to remember. After a night in the Amazon rainforest, you’ll head to a nearby coffee plantation, learning about how its grown and made, before settling down with a fresh cuppa to fuel you up for the day.
2. Mix Star Wars with sweet treats in Tunisia
The new nine-day Premium Tunisia trip takes you to all the best bits of the North African nation – with a few key upgrades. You’ll stay in the smart Dar HI design hotel and eco-lodge in the oasis town of Nefta, complete with a spa, hammam and geothermal baths. Then there are experiences like a master-run calligraphy class in Tunis, date harvesting in Tozeur and lunch with a local family in a troglodyte home in Matmata where Star Wars was filmed. And in Kairouan, you’ll watch makroudh sweet treats being made at a home bakery.

3. Go grand in the Grand Canyon
A new addition on Intrepid’s collection of Premium Walking & Trekking trips is the three-day Premium Hiking in the Grand Canyon adventure. Based at the iconic El Tovar Hotel, you’ll stay on the edge of the South Rim with vertiginous views of the canyon in a lodge beloved by starry guests, such as Theodore Roosevelt, Paul McCartney and Oprah Winfrey. You’ll take on the national park’s best walks by day, including highlight hikes such as the South Kaibab Trail, Bright Angel Trail and the Grandview Trail – with the chance to choose your own hiking distance each day.
4. Learn war history first-hand in Vietnam
Part of the allure of Intrepid’s Premium range is the opportunity to engage in one-off experiences. On the 15-day Premium Vietnam in Depth trip, you’ll have the chance to reflect on the country’s complex past during a half-day Cu Chi Tunnels trip with a veteran who’ll tell you about life during the war as you navigate the underground network. There’ll also be plenty of time to see how Vietnam has evolved, with a candlelit dinner on the deck of an atmospheric junk boat in Ha Long Bay and a Vietnamese cooking class in Hue.

5. Try your hand at traditional dyeing in Japan
The best souvenirs are always handmade. A new experience on the nine-day Premium Highlights of Japan invites you to express your true colours with a traditional Kyo-yuzen textile-dyeing workshop run by experienced craftsmen in a Kyoto townhouse, where you’ll keep your masterpiece as a souvenir. You’ll also take time out in Japanese onsen baths, join a cooking class in Kanazawa and visit an authentic samurai experience at a 400-year-old dojo run by ninjas in Tokyo.
6. Marvel at monasteries in Albania
Take your experience of the Balkans to the next level with the new ten-day Premium Albania and Montenegro adventure. Along with a wine tasting and farm-to-table lunch in Fishte and a Feature Stay on the Albanian Riviera, you’ll get to visit the monasteries of the Drino Valley – built in the 16th and 17th centuries, but abandoned during political unrest in the 1960s and recently added to the 2025 World Monuments Watch list of at-risk sites. During your visit, you’ll learn about the important role rural communities play in the monasteries’ conservation – and how you can support them.

7. Find your tartan tone in Scotland
Let the bagpipes sing out: Intrepid’s eight-day Premium Scotland trip has a few new highlights that up the ante even further. First, after a morning spent touring Stirling Castle, you’ll stop for lunch and a tartan-weaving workshop in Aberdeenshire run by some radical weavers. Later, there’ll be a full day spent exploring the Isle of Skye, passing by the dramatic Storr mountain, the surreal rock formations of the Quiraing and the cone-shaped hills of fabled Fairy Glen.
8. Experience a Premium spin on Serbia
If you’re looking for another way to explore a less-visited side of Europe, new experiences shine a new light on the eight-day Premium Balkans adventure. There are boat tours (complete with plates of local food) in Drina Canyon, as well as a trip on the Golden Gondola – the longest gondola ride in the world at 9000 metres – with accompanying views to match. Not a morning person? No bother. Intrepid’s nine-day Premium Peru trip has a new experience that means night owls won’t have to miss out on having a special Amazon experience. As the sun begins to set, you’ll join your group around a bonfire as a local guide shares stories and legends about your jungle surroundings. Then, you’ll see those stories come to life as you head out on a night walk to discover the jungle’s nocturnal creatures.
