A traveller in Bryce Canyon National Park

From Navajo-led canyon tours to iconic national parks, find even more ways to explore North America this year with these new Intrepid trips and experiences.

Ever thought about hopping on a train and making your way across eastern Canada? What about trekking through the Grand Canyon and learning about its Indigenous history? Intrepid’s new trips and experiences for 2026 tap into unique, evocative and unforgettable ways to see the US and Canada.

1. Discover eastern Canada by train

Take in four classic Canadian cities and everything in between on the new Eastern Canada by Rail trip. Bring your camera to capture the beauty of Niagara Falls and, if you’re feeling brave enough, take an optional cruise to see the cascades up close. Then make your way north to the Thousand Islands where you’ll hop on a boat to learn about the region’s rebellious history while gliding along the Saint Lawrence River that separates Canada and the US. When your train rolls into Quebec, spend a day on Ile d’Orleans, where you can try the classic Quebecois comfort food, poutine (fries topped with cheese curds and gravy).

2. Hike through the Grand Canyon

Intrepid’s new Premium Hiking in the Grand Canyon trip makes a physically challenging experience as comfortable as possible. Each day you can choose your own hiking distance (either 5 km or 10 km) and tackle the canyon’s best trails – such as the Bright Angel Trail, where you’ll walk along the Bright Angel fault, a visible fracture in the Earth’s crust, learning about the history and geology of the land as you go. You can rest easy after your days on the trail with two nights at El Tovar Hotel, which has incredible views of the canyon.

3. Explore Indigenous culture in Quebec

From whale watching in Saguenay National Park and eating lobster poutine in idyllic Ile d’Orleans to wandering the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal, the new Discover Quebec trip packs a punch. This part of Canada is known for its French influence, but in Wendake, you’ll dive into the region’s Indigenous history at the Huron-Wendat Museum. Meet a First Nations storyteller as you sit in a traditional longhouse warmed by three hearth fires, experience the Iroquoian way of life and learn about the lore and legends of this land.

4. Visit ancient canyons in Southwest USA

Every place has a story, and in Southwest USA, many of these stories are found in the region’s ancient canyons. On the new Southwest USA Canyons & Cultures trip, you’ll kick things off in the historic Grand Canyon National Park. Rent a bike and explore the Rim Trail, learning about the park’s wildlife and history from your conservation guide. In Canyon De Chelly National Monument, you’ll go on an immersive journey with a Navajo guide, who’ll show you the best parts of this lesser-visited canyon, including ancient Ancestral Puebolan ruins, and share traditional stories about the land. You can debrief with your new travel pals over dinner at a Navajo-owned lodge.

5. See iconic Yellowstone National Park

Say hello to North America’s first and most popular national park, Yellowstone. On Intrepid’s new five-day Premium Walking & Hiking in Yellowstone trip, you’ll inhale fresh air and enjoy beautiful views as you walk or hike your way to landmarks like the Grand Canyon, Old Faithful (one of the nearly 500 geysers in the park) and Grand Prismatic Spring. Keep an eye out for roaming bears, deer and elk. Unwind at upmarket Canyon Lodge, where you can rest in style before heading out for another day of adventure.

6. Get an intimate canyon tour in Arizona, USA

Intrepid’s Western USA National Parks Loop trip will take you on a diverse trek through the sandstone spires of Bryce Canyon National Park to the epic landscapes of the iconic Grand Canyon. Beyond these classic spots, there’s a new experience added for 2026: a tour through Rattlesnake and Owl slot canyons with a Navajo guide. Explore the beautiful red rock corridors while learning about the area’s culture and history. Make sure to bring your binoculars and see if you can spot the nesting great horned owls that call this area home.
