Ever sunny and tropical, temperate Darwin is a great place to kick off an Aussie adventure. Settle into this multicultural city with a stroll through the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory to learn a little about Darwin's history and the local Aboriginal culture. Later, head towards Katherine Gorge to camp out in Nitmiluk National Park.
Visit Lake Argyle, Australia's largest expanse of freshwater. Covering more than 900 sq km, the lake is home to many native animals, including wallabies, crocodiles and rare birds. In the evening, set up camp and sleep under a blanket of dazzling stars.
Take a bumpy 4x4 ride towards the Bungle Bungle Ranges in Purnululu National Park. Spend a few days exploring these bizarre conglomerates – the rock formations in this area seem out of this world. Feel dwarfed by their imposing size and impressed by some of Mother Nature’s finest work. Visit Echidna Chasm and Cathedral Gorge and in the evening, sit back with the group and enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Kimberley.
Travel from the Bungle Bungles to the beautiful untouched region of El Questro Station. Take a hike around the Durack Ranges, plunge into the cool waters of Turkey Creek or simply unwind around camp admiring the scenery.
Today is all about getting active in sunny Western Australia. Explore the beautiful Cockburn Ranges on foot before venturing to Emma Gorge for a refreshing dip in a tranquil pool.
Get off the Kimberley tourist trail and hunt down some secluded swimming spots with your guide. Spot animals while hiking through Manning Gorge and swim in a crystal-clear rock pool.
A picturesque park that extends over 2,000 hectares, Windjana Gorge is best explored on foot with a local guide. Keep an eye out for some of the notoriously snappy residents that call this national park home.
Rich in bushranger history, travel to the Napier Range to learn a little more about these Aussie outlaws. Delve underground in Tunnel Creek, Western Australia's oldest cave system, and go for a walk with bats and stalactites overhead. Once in Broome, head to stunning Cable Beach to watch the sun sink below the horizon before this Darwin to Broome adventure comes to a close.
