From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises).

However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

There are several ways to get to Atlanta, with the best option differing depending on where you're travelling from.

If you're travelling from a neighbouring state such as Tennessee or Florida, then driving or catching public transportation is popular and often cheaper than other ways of travelling.

If you're coming from a state on either the east or west coast, then flying is the best option, but it will be more expensive. 

Public transport is a great way to get around Atlanta. The city's rail and bus systems are efficient and easy to navigate, with routes all over the city.

If driving is more your thing, you can also hire a car from Atlanta International Airport or take advantage of various rideshare options.

Atlanta is also a great city to explore on foot or by bike, with heaps of parks and gardens scattered throughout the city. 

Atlanta is known to have a relatively mild climate with warm-to-hot summers and cold-to-freezing winters.

July is the hottest month at an average of 27°C but temperatures can reach as high as 32°C, while January is the coldest month with an average of 6°C but temperatures of 0°C or lower can also be expected.

July is also the month that experiences the most rain and April is the month that experiences the least. 

Atlanta has a humid subtropical climate with short, mild winters and long, hot summers, so any time is a good time to visit this culturally diverse city. The most popular time of year is summer (June to August) as there are many sporting events, concerts and outdoor activities to enjoy.

However, March through May are considered the best months to travel to Atlanta as temperatures are mild, rainfall is low and the parks and gardens are blooming with flowers. 

What you should pack for your trip to Atlanta largely depends on what kind of holiday you want to have and which season you're travelling in.

The weather in Atlanta is fairly good all year round so packing jeans, t-shirts, and sweaters is a safe bet. You should also pack comfortable walking shoes as the city is full of parks and gardens to explore.

Things like cameras, reusable drink bottles, and sunscreen (even if you're travelling in winter) are a must as well.
