Sip back and enjoy some of South Australia’s finest wine and produce
There’s something wholesome about drinking a glass of Shiraz in the same vineyard it came from, or knowing the food on your plate grew in the paddock over the road. Barossa Valley is arguably Australia’s best-known red wine region, with over 150 wineries dotted throughout its sun-soaked vineyards. Combine two of life’s best things — nature and wine — on a cycling adventure through three distinct regions, or experience a little bit of everything on our Best of South Australia trip.

Highlights of Barossa Valley

Taste the region's best drops
Barossa Valley is home to over 150 wineries, from big names like Penfolds, Wolf Blass and Jacob’s Creek to boutique cellar doors that feel more like a family home. The region is most famous for its bold Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties, but there’s also plenty of Riesling, Chardonnay and Semillon on offer for those balmy summer evenings.

Cycle the Barossa Trail
Surely there’s no better way to experience wine country than on a bicycle? Peddle down the quiet pathways of the Barossa Trail, a sealed and car-free route that cuts through the heart of the region. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to hop off your bicycle and refuel and hydrate with German breads, pastries, and, of course, wine.

Visit Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop
Take your tastebuds on a journey at Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop. Maggie is one of Australia’s most beloved chefs; she fully embraces the paddock-to-plate ethos, and you can taste the fruits of her labour in everything she cooks and sells. Watch a live cooking demonstration, walk around the dam beneath olive and lemon trees, or sit out on the deck with a platter of cheese.

Feast on top-notch food
Barossa Valley is home to some of the country's finest local producers and artisans. They roll with the seasons here, so chefs get creative with produce and menus are constantly changing. Whether strolling around the Barossa Farmers Markets or indulging in a decadent lunch, you're in for a treat in every sense of the word.

Our Barossa Valley trips start in Adelaide, South Australia. The region is located 70 kilometres northeast of Adelaide. It takes roughly 1-1.5 hours to drive to Barossa Valley from Adelaide. You can also take a Metro train from Adelaide Railway Station to Gawler Central. From Gawler, transfer to Barossa via a local bus operated by Link SA.
Call us biased, but we think the best way to get around Barossa is on a tour. This way, you'll benefit from the expertise of a local who knows all the best spots.
Cycling is a great way to get around as you can ride the Barossa Trail, a 40-kilometre, traffic-free track that showcases some of the region's gorgeous scenery.
Barossa Valley boasts over 150 wineries and 80 cellar doors. It's the place to be if you love wine.
Barossa Valley is most famous for its deep, bold red wine varieties including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Other popular varieties include Riesling, Semillon and Chardonnay.
Barossa Valley experiences a mild climate similar to the Mediterranean, which is what makes it such an amazing place to grow grapes. It typically has cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers with plenty of sunshine. Autumn days are balmy and dry with cool nights, while spring is mild and sunny.
You can have an amazing time all year round in Barossa, but summer and autumn are generally considered to be the best times to visit. Autumn is also when the much anticipated Barossa Vintage Festival is on.
We're committed to making travel widely accessible, regardless of ability or disability.
