Go on a safari through Kruger National Park, one of the largest game reserves in Southern Africa
Feast on fresh Mozambican seafood at the seaside village of Ponta Malongane
Uncover the unspoilt wilderness of the Elephant Coast, a tropical paradise of crystal clear water, marshland, coastal forest and swamp

Enjoy a hike through Hlane Royal National Park amongst antelope and zebra
While a homestay in Zululand is a unique and rewarding experience, the conditions are basic – foam mattresses on the floor, with up to six people (of the same sex) per room. Clean linen and pillows are provided.
Purpose-built overland vehicles are used for the duration of the trip. These multi-purpose trucks, equipped with large sliding windows, allow for excellent game viewing. There is no air-conditioning, however, so it can get hot and dusty inside.
The going can be slow over the long distances and often bumpy roads. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful land!
This is a participatory camping trip, so embrace the team spirit. You will be expected to set up and take down your own tent as well as assist with food preparation and cleaning.
As the early bird catches the worm, the early camper sights the animals. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

I did not know what to expect on this trip. As an older woman, I have always been an independent traveller and never been on a tour other than a day trip. The Kruger and Coast trip was fantastic, beautiful landscapes, lots of wildlife, saw four of the big five, only missed the leopard. Long days on the bus, but lots of toilet stops and chance to stretch the legs. Loved Kruger, drinking sundowners overlooking the rhinos at the waterhole in Swaziland, a close encounter with lions, camping on the beach in Mozambique where our guide Francoise gave us an astronomy lesson under the stars as the waves crashed to shore, a boat cruise with hippos and crocodiles in St Lucia Estuary and a cultural exchange with the Zulus in the Valley of a thousand hills. Also try and do the Warwick markets tour with a local in Durban, authentic Africa! However I expected the Zulu homestay to be a bit more traditional, in a mud hut, rather than a modern house. Also would have liked to share the delicious food prepared by our host with her family rather than my fellow travellers. I advise travellers to pack light, (have an extra overnight bag packed for the first two days to put in the locker) bring a travel pillow, garden gloves for the tight tent clips, bring snacks and herbal teas, favourite coffee, and a battery pack to charge phone and camera for times when power is down. This is a Fantastic trip and a great introduction to the wonders of Souuth Africa.
