San Francisco to Seattle SummaryAdd to Shortlist
The hilliest city in the country, San Fran welcomes you with its eclectic architecture, Golden Gate Bridge and rolling cable cars. If you arrive early, maybe head to Fisherman’s Wharf and hire a bike, take a tour of Alcatraz or stop by Chinatown to find your fortune in a cookie.
Head to Bend for a few days of outdoor adventuring. Embark on an action-packed tour that will be determined by the season – this could involve kayaking on the Deschutes River, donning snow shoes and trekking among majestic snowy mountains or cycling through the lush rolling landscape. When you're ready for a rest from the outdoor excitement, why not take a stroll around town, grab a coffee or hit the shopping malls and outlets.
Located in the Pacific Northwest, Portland is known as the greenest city in America. Begin with a walk through Forest Park, the biggest inner-city park in the country, or take in the tranquil air of the Lan Su Chinese Garden. Portland has more breweries per capita than any other city in the world, so be sure to relax and people-watch with a beer. Choose to visit Mount St Helens, an active volcano that offers incredible hikes and an impressive museum.
It may be cloudy and a little drizzly, but Seattle is anything but an indoor city. Head to the bohemian Pike Place Market, chill out with a latte in Hing Hay Park or take shelter from the rain at the Pacific Science Center or Science-Fiction Museum. Seattle is all that is hip and cool while also appeasing active sportspeople and gourmet enthusiasts. Perhaps finish the tour by dining on Seattle’s signature salmon by the bay or a famous ‘hand forged’ Top Pot doughnut and Irish Coffee – it’s the way of the Seattleite.
