Sink your teeth into a Turkish adventure from Istanbul to Urfa
Historically rich with its medieval Ottoman period and chronicle of Gallipoli, and fashionably chic with the cosmopolitan buzz of Istanbul and the celebrity getaway of Antalya, Turkey is an unmissable country overflowing with character, where Noah’s Ark (allegedly) landed, Santa Claus originated and Hemingway was inspired. It's a place where the yin and yang of old and new complement each other - contemporary galleries stand next to cathedrals, stylish cafes sit alongside bazaars and trendsetting bars float over ancient turquoise waters. Travel from Istanbul through the very best of Turkey - Gallipoli, Fethiye, Pamukkale, Antalya, and Cappadocia - and discover the people, history, cuisine and landscapes that make this destination such a treasure.

Adorned with treasure from all periods of human history, Istanbul is not only one of the world's most fascinating places, it's also one of its most mesmerising.
The Gallipoli Peninsula, a place of devastation and tragedy during World War I, is a place of great beauty and a memorial to all soldiers that fell there.
With a picturesque harbour facing the Aegean Sea, relaxed waterside cafes, hills of olive groves and nearby idyllic islands, Ayvalik exudes Turkish charm.
Selcuk's claim to fame is its proximity to the amazing ruins of Ephesus, although it has its own charm with its orchards, forests and strong cultural roots.
The arresting cascade of travertines and nearby hot springs have attracted visitors to Pamukkale since ancient times.
The beach at Oludeniz is the Turkish Tourist Board's poster child, three kilometres of golden sand abutting the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean.
Lying off the coast not far from Kas is the island of Kekova and its fascinating sunken city - an ancient settlement submerged in a few metres of translucent, turquoise water.
With cobblestone streets and beautifully preserved Ottoman-style buildings, Antalya's Old Town lies along Turkey's Mediterranean coast and looks on to picturesque mountains.
Cappadocia has one of the most astonishing landscapes above ground, and has a wealth of underground cities, caves houses and cultural roots stemming back to the Bronze Age.
Steeped in history and famous for its unique cuisine, Sanliurfa is a magical city that blends ancient traditions with modern-day life.
The wonderful city of Istanbul has an incredibly rich history, amazing array of architectural styles, a delectable cuisine, vibrant nightlife, fascinating culture and oodles of style.

Turkey Explored, May 2014
The leader (Erkan) was amazing, the group was great and, despite being a Basix trip, we felt that we got a whole lot out of the experience. Absolutely flawless Erkan went above and beyond every single day - from climbing Mt Nemrut 2 or 3 times to find someone who had wandered off, to sharing almost every meal with us and showing us the best places to get the local specialties, to altering the tour to include Bergama (this was a special request for my partner and I, and it meant the world to us that he put in the effort to take us there). He also showed us many things that weren't included in the tour and arranged special things for us to do when we weren't sure what to do in a particular place. He is one of the most knowledgeable, generous, kind-hearted people I have aver met and I was delighted to have the opportunity to meet him and see Turkey through his eyes.
