Itinerary

Get acquainted with this charming city's intriguing blend of Inca and Spanish cultures on a guided walking tour of its lesser-known sights. Don't miss the opportunity to sample mate de coca (coca tea).
Watch the stark, mountainous horizons float by on a drive through the beautiful Sacred Valley. Learn about the local lifestyle and pick up some Quechua lingo during a community visit. Browse the markets for traditional handicrafts in ancient Ollantaytambo.
Today's a free day, which means that you can set about exploring Cuzco's fascinating attractions at your own pace. Head out to the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo and Tambomachay along the town's outskirts, or visit the Aldea Yanapay restaurant for a meal with an impact – all of the restaurant's profits go to supporting Cuzco's disadvantaged children through various social projects.
Travel by train through the winding, fertile Urubamba Valley to Aguas Calientes. Aside from being the gateway to Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes boasts a number of simmering hot springs (Aguas Calientes translates to 'hot waters'). Enjoy a restorative soak in nature's spa bath, take a short walk to a nearby waterfall or visit a butterfly farm.
Catch an early bus to watch the morning sun hit Machu Picchu's dramatic fortifications. Spend the day wandering the ancient ruins with a local guide and marveling at this incredible structure – a vestige of a once powerful empire. The scale of Machu Picchu is truly impressive and the many vantage points offer some remarkable photo opportunities.
Make the most of the final day discovering Cuzco's sights and attractions. Browse the numerous markets for some unique handicrafts, scour local menus for guinea pig or just wander the endless narrow streets and alleyways to see where they take you.
