Amazing Southern Africa - Reverse Summary

Add to Shortlist

Day 1 Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is a town on the Zimbabwean side of the falls, with spectacular views and a reputation as the adventure capital of Zimbabwe.

Day 2 Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls are an enormous curtain of water, about a mile wide, plunging 108m at a rate of more than 12,000 cubic metres per second at its heaviest flow. In the wet season, the spray can rise up an incredible 400 m and the falls are an impressive raging torrent. It's no wonder that the local name Mosi oa Tunya means the 'smoke that thunders'.

Days 3-4 Chobe National Park

With a diverse range of ecosystems, a humungous number of elephants and the largest concentration of game found in Africa, Chobe National Park is safari heaven.

Day 5 Makgadikgadi Pans

Makgadikgadi Pans is one of the largest salt flats in the world! The salt pan is located in the middle of a dry savanna and is all that remains of the former Lake Makgadikgadi.

Day 6 Maun

Travel to the gateway of the Okavango Delta - Maun.

Days 7-8 Okavango Delta

Full of animals, islands and unforgettable scenery, the Okavango Delta is the world's largest inland delta and is best explored by mokoro (dugout canoe).

Day 9 Ghanzi/Central Kalahari

Sit around the camp fire this evening and listen to stories and interacting with the local San Bushmen.

Day 10 Windhoek

In Windhoek, it almost feels as if you've stepped out of Africa and into Europe with its Germanic architecture, cosy street cafes and modern malls.

Days 11-12 Etosha National Park

With excellent game viewing and stunning landscapes, Etosha National Park was established in 1907 and is home to hundreds of animal, reptile and bird species.

Days 13-14 Damarland

Home to Namibia's highest peak, ancient rock paintings and petrified forests, the harshly beautiful and sparsely populated Damaraland region is a land of spectacular contrasts.

Days 15-16 Swakopmund

Swakopmund sits on Namibia's Atlantic Coast, virtually surrounded by the Namib Desert, and has beautiful colonial architecture and a large array of adventure sports on offer.

Days 17-18 Sossusvlei

With their magnificent red/orange tones and fascinating shapes, the most spectacular of the Namib Desert's vast dune fields can be found in the Sossusvlei area.

Day 19 Fish River Canyon

A truly spectacular sight to behold, especially at sunset, Fish River Canyon's orange-pink hues and momentous size are awe-inspiring.

Day 20 Orange River

Located on the north bank of the Orange River near the South African border, Noordoewer is a great place to see by canoe.

Day 21 Clanwilliam

Known for its long white beaches, fresh lobster and abundant birdlife, Lamberts Bay is a quaint little fishing town that's easily explored on foot.
