Sahara Desert Tours & Holidays

Discover sweeping dunes, sparkling night skies and ancient Amazigh culture in the Sahara Desert.

Journey into the heart of the Sahara where a sea of wind-whipped sand stretches for what looks like forever. We like to explore the Sahara the Intrepid way. We're talking sunset camel rides, getting lost in the narrow streets of an ancient citadel, exchanging stories over mint tea with a local Amazigh family and feasting on Moroccan food in a desert camp. Heed the call of the dunes and join us on a bucket-list North African adventure.

Our tour Leader, Yazan was highly knowledgeable in the history of the Middle East and Jordan. I can’t imagine a more educated Leader. Jordan is a safe country with friendly people. I would recommend to travel to Jordan with Intrepid Travel.

This was a great trip to see and learn a lot about Morocco in a short time but was more tiring than expected. Mohamed, our guide, was excellent and so enthusiastic.

Classic Egypt

This Comfort Intrepid 8 day, 7 night tour was amazing. Not only did we get to see the usual Pyramids, Sphinx and Valley of the Kings, so much more was fitted in. Never a dull moment! Every detail from meals, tipping, ATM visits, toilet stops and time to breathe was ensured. A few early starts but worth it to beat the crowds and the heat. Overnight trains, 4 nights on a Nile cruiser, a Felucca sail, visits to a few locally owned businesses. All very informative, very thorough and educational to see. The only thing we sacrificed was the Hot Air Balloon over the Valley of the Kings due to high winds. An added extra which really touched our hearts was an Animal Refuge. Truly amazing work. Intrepid have a strong policy for the welfare of all animals. Our temple visits were informative and opened our eyes to years of history. To top it off we had time to explore the local bazzar and then an evening meal in an Egyptian home. All very down to earth. Forewarning given on vendors haggling. We were discouraged to give money to children, warned to be careful crossing roads and to be courteous of the Egyptian culture and customs. A real eye opening experience, one not to be forgotten.
