Intrepid Travel appoints new Head of Public Relations and Communications for APAC region

OCTOBER 2023

First dedicated Head of PR and Comms role in Asia Pacific appointed at the certified B Corp

Intrepid Travel, the world’s largest adventure travel company, has welcomed Joanne (Jo) Crisp as the brand’s new Head of PR and Comms for the APAC region.

Working closely with ANZ and Asia Managing Directors Brett Mitchell and Natalie Kidd, Crisp will take strategic oversight of regional public relations and communications with a focus on consumer and trade media as well as advancing the purpose-led business’ social and environmental advocacy program in the region. Crisp will also work closely with Intrepid's Global VP of Communications, Mikey Sadowski, to help shape and guide the regional communications program across APAC.

A seasoned marcomms professional with diverse experience across B2B and B2C environments, she has previously held senior roles with some of Australia’s most high-profile organisations including Westpac, ANZ and Graincorp.

Crisp also brings a deep understanding of the travel industry and its customers, having co-founded tailor-made Melbourne-based travel agency Forth and Wonder after a life-changing trip to Kenya, a story that closely resembles that of Intrepid’s own co-founders.

“It’s not every day you can contribute to building a global iconic brand, that's still majority founder owned, and truly committed to being a force for good,” says Crisp.

“An intrepid traveller at heart, I could not be more excited to support the local team to grow, develop and maintain a strong public image in 2024 and beyond, as we celebrate 35 amazing years of Intrepid’s iconic brand of travel and one I have long admired.”

Intrepid’s growing presence in the APAC region spans more than 40 countries and 10 offices. It’s currently the largest by outbound customer numbers. Jo Crisp is based out of Intrepid’s Melbourne headquarters.
