  • Discover a cultural melting pot in Kuala Lumpur
  • Explore historic Melaka by trishaw
  • Trek through Taman Negara's ancient rainforest
  • Feast on traditional Malay cuisine on a village homestay
  • Swim in the sparkling waters of the Perhentian Islands
  • See traditional Malay industries being practised in the markets of Kota Bharu

A finely woven tapestry of Indian, Chinese and ethnic Malay cultures gives Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur its distinct identity, as well as its delicious array of cuisines - just follow the spicy aromas to the night market and dive straight in.
Climb into the backseat of a trishaw to explore the colonial streets of historic Melaka. Afterwards, take some time to wander about, absorbing Melaka’s wonderful atmosphere.
A full day's travel by bus. We take a minubus to Melaka Sentral, followed by public public bus to Termloh (4 hours) and then a private minibus for the 30-40 min drive takes us to the ancient rainforest of Taman Negara (National Park).
Taman Negara (National Park) is home to what's considered to be the oldest rainforest in the world.
Experience the jungle from a monkey's point of view on a canopy walk high up in the trees. Following the walk, those seeking additional challenges can take the time to explore Bukit Teresek.

Head upstream (approx 1 hr) in longtail boats to brave the low level rapids. There's time for a swim surrounded by rainforest jungles before returning to our accommodation.
Meet our local guide and head off into the jungle for a short trek - surely the best way to experience this pristine primary rainforest. We hope to see some of Malaysia's extraordinary wildlife including many exotic birds, and perhaps learn about some of the traditional uses of endemic plants and flowers. The trek is about 4 hours along purpose cleared paths through primary and secondary jungle, so be prepared to sweat! The walking isn't overly challenging, but a good level of fitness is required as the humidity can affect even the fittest trekker.

Having completed our trek, arrive at the crystal-clear waters of the Tahan River where there's time for a refreshing swim - very welcome after the hot and humid jungle. After lunch, the adventurous can continue to walk for 30 minutes to the cascades further upstream before we return back down the Tahan River in small dugout canoes.
Swim in sparkling turquoise waters, snorkel among unspoilt reefs or swing in a hammock while on some of the most beautiful islands on the planet.
Take a half day snorkelling trip in the turquoise waters, with beautiful coral and an array of fish. Keep an eye open for the majestic green turtles and, if we're lucky, maybe even a reef shark or two.
Time can be spent snorkelling, swimming, trekking into the inland jungle, exploring the nearby islands or just lying in a hammock. And don't miss the seafood BBQ on offer!
Discover the secrets of local silversmiths, watch giant kites being flown or learn the art of batik. Take time to sample the delicious regional delicacies such as nasi ulam and keropok losong.
A long bus journey (approx. 8 hrs) and a short minibus ride take us to the west coast and our home away from home – Kota Aur a small traditional Malay village set amongst the rice paddies. Here be prepared for an authentic local experience. On arrival we will have a home-cooked dinner. Afterwards we meet our hosts and are billeted out to different homes throughout the village. Accommodation is on a twin sharing basis with fan cooling. Bathrooms are shared and some homes will only have cold showers.
Awake to the sounds of village life, or and possibly the cockerels! This morning take a tour of the village and rice fields by bike and learn about how the local coconuts are harvested. Experience a cooking demonstration and a home cooked meal together with the group and one of our hosts. Tonight there is the opportunity to learn about the Malay game of congkak and enjoy a taste of family life in Malaysia. Relax and make yourself at home.
After breakfast we will depart to Penang Island by private minibus (approx. 1 hour).
Penang - Malaysia's prized island - has a beautiful coastline, wonderful cuisine and its colonial heritage is still present in amongst the modern skyscrapers that tower over Georgetown.
This afternoon take a guided city tour of Georgetown passing sites such as Clan Jetty, Goddess of Mercy Chinese temple, Sri Mahamariamman Hindu temple and Kapitan Kling Mosque
Enjoy a free day to explore the many sites of Penang. Perhaps make the most of the island’s great beaches and incredible cuisine - why not head out to find the best Assam Laksa or char koay teow to enjoy as an evening meal.
Set off for Malaysia’s capital today and spend an evening enjoying the hustle and bustle of KL. Find the best bowl of Mee Goreng you can and sit back to do some people watching at one of the many markets or stalls.
Your Malaysian adventure concludes today and you are free to depart at any time for your onward travel.
