Days 1-3 Tokyo

The dynamic capital of an ancient land, Tokyo blends neon-drenched modernity with traditional temples, shrines and gardens. This trip allows you to travel in style to see the sights of Japan and have a gastronomic feast along the way. With over 20 different methods of Japanese cooking to sample, from okinomiyaki to fugu (pufferfish), there is no end to the variety and beauty of the art that is Japanese cuisine. This is a trip into Japan's heart and taste buds. Visiting all the major cities and some quieter destinations, we indulge our tastebuds from Tokyo to Kyoto. Days 4-5 Nikko

Set amid a magnificent cedar forest, Nikko is home to some of Japan's most important shrines and temples - including the elaborately decorated Toshu-gu Shrine.

Days 6-7 Koya-san

Koya-san has been the centre of Shingon Buddhism for over 1,200 years and today there are more than 120 temples scattered over the mountain peak.

Days 8-10 Kyoto

Magnificent temples, stunning gardens and gorgeous geishas abound in Kyoto, the ancient heart of Japan's unique culture.

Days 11-12 Osaka

Famous for its cuisine, including takoyaki (octopus balls) and okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes), Osaka has recovered from extensive bombing during World War II to become a global commercial centre. It's at night that the city really comes alive, transforming from concrete jungle to flashing neon wonderland.
