Trips on or before 31 December 2022

If your Intrepid trip starts on or before 31 December 2022, you must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons, you may apply for an exemption. Exemptions will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. To apply, you must provide a medical certificate from a medical professional. 

Children under 18 are exempt. Children aged between 5 and 17 years old must provide proof of either vaccination, recovery or a negative COVID-19 test.

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

From 1 January 2023, Intrepid will no longer require travellers to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (excluding all Polar trips and select adventure cruises). However, we continue to strongly recommend that all Intrepid travellers and leaders get vaccinated to protect themselves and others.

Specific proof of testing or vaccination may still be required by your destination or airline. Please ensure you check travel and entry requirements carefully.

Albany Regional Airport is located 11 kilometres from downtown Albany. If you would prefer to travel by road, the bus trip from Perth to Albany takes just under 7 hours. Driving from Perth is slightly quicker and takes between four and five hours depending on traffic and how many times you stop along the way. 

A hire car is your best option for getting around Albany. However, a public bus service and taxis are also available.

Any time of year is a good time to visit Albany as you'll find pleasant weather throughout most of the year. Summer is hot and perfect for swimming. Spring and Autumn are cooler and the winter months are perfect for walking in the National Park.

Albany is a laid back destination so pack casual clothes such as active wear for enjoying the national park, casual dresses, jeans, shorts and t-shirts. A pair of swimmers plus sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are a must in summer. A jacket or sweater is always a good idea, just in case. A few smart casual outfits are all you need if you're planning on dining out at one of the restaurants in town. 

Albany is a laid back destination so people tend to wear casual clothes during the day. In the evening, smart casual clothes are your best choice for dining out at one of the restaurants in town. 

There is good WiFi coverage in and around Albany. 

The Minang/Menang Noongar peoples were recognised as the traditional owners of Albany as part of an Aboriginal Accord (signed in 2003) that committed to reconciling the Indigenous community with the non-Indigenous community. This accord promises to educate around the loss and devastation suffered by the Aboriginal community at the hands of the first European settlers to the area, as well as recognise the spiritual and cultural connection the Minang/Menang Noongar peoples have to both land and sea.
