This tour is great. You are back to the basics for at least a week. If you're willing to get and stay dirty, experience cold showers, go without wifi, and sleep out near nature, then this is the tour for you. Even if you've never experienced camping, as long as you can live without first world amenities, such as wifi, you will enjoy this tour. The animals you see are great and the local people you will interact with are absolutely amazing. I would definitely do this trip again!

Intrepid was traditionally for small groups travel. One should stick to this on all trips as larger groups tend to splinter into many smaller ones which often can cause tension and conflict. Twelve is ideal.

If you're trying to see as much of Tanzania as possible in two weeks on a tight budget, this trip is perfect! Incredible to think we squeezed in the Serengeti, Tanzania's beautiful Usambara Mountains (the best part!) AND Zanzibar in one trip. Warning: If you're looking for a luxury vacation, this isn't it -- it's literally all camping with cold showers. Everything you bring will get dirty.

Intrepid offers reasonably priced adventure holidays that would suit most ages. We have had a great time and would recommend Intrepid to others. I traveled with my grandmother and had a great time! All the people in the group were very friendly and got on well together.

The Best of East Africa trip showcased the diversity of the Rift Valley. In June the lakes and the Masai Mara were stunning - lush and tropical. In contrast, the Serengeti was savannah and dusty. Both stunningly different which made the trip very interesting and of course ending the trip in Zanzibar was the icing on the cake. I suggest people add some days to the Zanzibar part of the trip to enjoy at their leisure - we added 2 days at Nungwi Beach on Zanzibar and another 2 at Stone Town - perfect for us. Also, I would consider leaving the tour at Arusha after the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater and flying to Zanzibar if you have had enough of overland travel, which can become exhausting, though personally, I enjoyed it.

This trip encompasses what most people think of when they think Africa - the sweeping Serengeti savannah, the Big 5 and Kilimanjaro, and boy does it deliver! The wildlife watching in the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti is spectacular - we were lucky enough to see all the Big 5 as well as cheetahs, and the beach break on Zanzibar's Northern Beaches is a lovely treat after days of camping, but there is plenty in between to surprise and delight.

Fascinating trip. The Safari drives were excellent, we saw loads of animals and birds including a Black Rhino, leopards, cheetahs, elephants etc. The campsite in the Serengeti is basic it wonderful to be so close to the animals, and you can see the stars! Great insight to the country of Tanzania. Zanzibar is lovely.

This trip is fast paced and full of adventure. If you are looking for a laid back lazy day type of vacation, then this is not for you. It is a full participation vacation, with you helping with meals, clean up, sitting up you tent and being aware of your fellow travelers. It is a great combination of wildlife and cultural. You get to see amazing animals and meet local people and learn the history of the area you are visiting. They are very aware of the impact of tourism and work to keep that impact low. Highly recommend that you read all the trip information carefully. Carry small denomination bills that are new and take half of what you've packed. Remember, you are the one hauling all that stuff around. Even though it says you can get your Visa in Tanzania, I would get mine ahead of time. One less line to stand in. Go! You'll never forget it.
