Itinerary

You’ve dreamed about it, seen it in movies and probably already know that iconic skyline like the back of your hand. But nothing can ever prepare you for the moment you step foot in Manhattan, a city that feels like it is well and truly at the centre of the universe. Take in all the must-see sites or head off to explore some of the quirky, lesser-known neighbourhoods.
Come for the Rocky Steps, stay for the history. Take some time to get acquainted with ‘The City of Brotherly Love’ before enjoying a walking tour of its historic sites, including the Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin’s house and Independence Hall.
Swap the former capital for the current one and be amazed by the sheer amount of things to see and do among the whitewashed monuments of Washington, DC. Head out on foot and feel like you’re walking through the set of a political drama, taking in the White House, Capitol Building, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and the many museums in between.
The delightfully incongruous town of Savannah is characterised by stately antebellum architecture, a sub-tropical climate and an endearingly roguish air. Check out the myriad antique stores, try some local delicacies and knock back a few of the traditional cocktails that the city's renowned for.
Often referred to as the ‘New York of the South’, Atlanta is big city with a wide range of parks, museums, restaurants and bars to explore. Enjoy some free time to check out the World of Coca Cola, CNN Center, the Martin Luther King Jr Historic Site and the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum.
Hop aboard a train and head further into Dixie, arriving in Birmingham in time to check out one of the centres of the Civil Rights Movement.
Take stock of the ‘Big Easy’, a jazzy, multicultural city that is pretty hard to pin down in one sentence. From the European-inspired French Quarter to the Cajun cuisine, this is one of the world’s most unique cities and a great place to end this exploration of the United States.
