This trip involves some long travel days. Simply sit back, relax, watch the scenery go by, and embrace travelling like a local.
Laos is less developed than many other South-East Asian countries. The roads can be bumpy, delays are common, and accommodation can be basic but always clean and comfortable. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful country!
One night is spent on the Mekong River in Pakbeng, a very remote and quiet town.
It can be quite cool from November to February, so make sure you have some warm gear packed for this period.
Due to dam construction upstream, water levels aren't as reliable as in previous years. When the Mekong River is at its lowest from February to April, part of the journey may occasionally need to be made by land.
A single supplement is available on this trip at time of booking please contact your sales agent if you would like to book a single supplement. The following days are excluded from the single supplement: Day 2 Overnight train and Day 6 Pakbeng

Great way to explore northern Thailand and Laos. You get to see lots of the two countries from busy cities to quieter towns, each having their own charms. The overnight train from Bangkok is an interesting experience but bring a mask as the lights don't get turned off, especially if you get the top bunk! The optional elephant experience at Chang Mai is an amazing day. Cruising down the Meakong was an enjoyable break from the roads and a great way to recharge your batteries mid way through the tour.
