Travel to Costa Rica and experience its incredible natural attractions
Even in a region well known for its natural diversity, Costa Rica is still a stand out. Thanks to a longstanding tradition of preserving its natural assets, much of the country’s verdant rainforest still stands, opportunities for nature-based adventures abound and the beaches on both coasts are in exceptional nick. As a result, the nation’s cultural riches can oft end up overlooked – but here too the country has much to offer. Costa Ricans are widely regarded as some of the world’s friendliest people and on this trip – in between exploring the country’s most famous national parks –you’ll get to know them while lending a hand on a rural farmstay and kicking back in the rustic beach town of Quepos.
Wander through the artisan stalls of San Jose’s Plaza de la Cultura

This trip was awesome. However, if you are an introvert be aware that you might have little downtime during this short of a trip. Check the day you are supposed to be in Manuel Antonio for the national park as it is closed on Monday. I would recommend taking binoculars (little ones) to better see some of the wildlife. Try to pay in cash, though cards are accepted, and some shops will give you discounts. I took Keens and wished I took hiking shoes because the grip isn't fantastic with the keens. The Costa Rica experience has little included but tons of optional activities (which, as I've heard, is unusual with "original" Intrepid trips). Most places accept USD but the exchange rate the stores give you won't be the best. Don't change money at the airport as the official orange taxis accept USD. Good luck and have fun.

This was my first Intrepid trip but I am so excited to do many more! Everything was just perfect. We saw so much and did so much and I learned a great deal about Costa Rica's beauty and culture. The people were great - the leader, the other people on the trip, and the locals we met. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone - it is an incredible deal, especially for the cost - but it would still be a great deal, even if I paid more!
