Flip through the latest edition of The Good Times

Ever notice how it’s the littlest moments in our travels that hit the hardest? Take Janine, in our cover photo snapped in Kenya. potting elephants, zebras, giraffes on safari was a highlight of her trip, but it was this moment with activist and educator Dr Hellen Nkuraiya – whose work empowering Maasai girls intersects with work Janine does back home in Australia – that will stay with her forever.

Maybe it’s no surprise to find people so often at the heart of those moments. In this issue, we celebrate moments like these and the people behind them. Like the time in Nuray’s home in Turkey when Meghan and AJ learned about the impact of Nuray’s seven-time award-winning baklava. Or when Kim, inside a Tokyo cafe, spoke to a robot server powered by Aya – a real person miles away – and heard all about how this job allows her to connect with people from around the world after an illness affected her mobility and halted her career.

It’s moments like these that move us – compel us – to head out into the world, to see where we can go, who we can meet, what we can learn and how we can be better. Next time you find yourself in the middle of one, take a minute and soak it in.
