"Many of us grow up being told what we can't do, more than what we can."

Angel, 37

Like any girl growing up in Virginia, USA, Angel’s childhood was peppered with summer vacations to the beach. It didn’t matter that she couldn’t swim, not when there was plenty of sunshine and sandbars to enjoy. Besides, deep water scared her.

Now as a grown up she’s travelled the world – through Asia, Africa and all over Europe – but it was her first visit to the Galapagos Islands that really made her nervous. Angel realised to get up close to the amazing wildlife, she’d need to overcome her fear of deep water and learn to swim.

Sometimes when something scares you, you’ve got to dive right in and do it.
