What do you enjoy the most about being a group leader?

I love watching people's faces when they see new things and knowing I made these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities possible.

To an outsider, it sounds like a bit of a holiday – what are the realities of life on the road?

Life on the road can be a lot of fun, but most travellers begin to look forward to the end of even the best holidays and getting back to the comforts of home. There are long hours involved with no weekends to sleep in and relax, but that usually because we are busy doing all sorts of awesome things!

What is the most special thing about the region you lead in?

North America has amazing diversity. Even a one week trip can include oceans, deserts, lakes, mountains, cities and canyons. The local cuisine can range from Tex-Mex to Cajun and BBQ. I also get a surge of pride for my homeland every time someone tells me how friendly they find Americans to be.

What tip would you give to someone who’s seeking ‘real life experience’ while travelling?

Step outside your comfort zone and try something that you never thought you would do. These are usually the things you will remember the most.
