Itinerary

On this very special Greek food tour we begin by exploringKotzia Square, located in the heart of Athens. The square is surrounded by gorgeous Neoclassical buildings, which were constructed in the early 18th century, and afew meters from the fountain there are ancient ruins of old houses that we will have a peek at on our way to the market, just 5 minutes away.

Your local guide will show you around the best of the Central Market, taking you to places no tourist venture and helping you to discover a variety of delicious Greek specialties. From the simple koulouri (a round-shaped bread with sesame seeds) and delicate local pastries to the Greek staples of feta and olives, the Central Market is a feast for the senses. We also try either an invigorating Greek coffee (in the winter) or a cold frappe in warmer days, which are popular local beverages.

We then drop by a Greek delithat sells traditional produce and is a popular shopping place for locals. Let the shop owner expound the quality of his waresand the traditions behind the produce on show. Get to taste some of the best seasonal food available.

Finally, we make our way to Monastiraki Square, where this wonderful culinary tour ends. Your guide is happy to recommend other places to see in this ancient city and where some of the best local restaurants are located.
