Tipping Info

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.

Itinerary

Begin your Madrid tapas tour at a popular market right in the centre of the city, the perfect place to cosy up to Madrid’s food scene. Here, your local guide will give you an introduction to Spanish food, and the jewel in Spain’s foodie crown – tapas. Learn about the history of this tasty cuisine over some of the most typical tapas dishes you will find all over the city and country as a whole. Because we all learn best by trying things for ourselves, right?
As we continue our tapas adventure in Madrid, we’ll head onwards to a little tavern that opened way back in 1867, where we’ll get an introduction to some local produce. To help you digest some of the treats we’ve tried so far, next we’ll take a little walk into Madrid’s Literary District, a trendy area which was once home to writers and poets, including Cervantes, one of Spain’s most famous literary figures. After a stroll, we’ll pull up a chair in a one of this neighbourhood’s little bars and learn even more about the wonderful world of tapas in Madrid.
Next on this Madrid tour, we’ll head to a traditional Andalusian tavern, a cool local spot that serves up mouth-watering tapas dishes. Snack on some Spanish meats and cheeses, but make sure you leave a little room because there is still more to come! After sampling some of these delicious delights, we’ll head to our final stop on the tour, the multi-ethnic neighbourhood of Lavapiés. Take a seat in one of Madrid’s oldest taverns, and savour your last tapas bites of the day (with us, at least!) – an ideal way to finish up this yummy Madrid food experience!
