Over the past 11 years I have traveled the world. I have been lucky enough to visit all 7 continents, called Melbourne, London, Beijing, Toronto, Los Angeles and now Boulder home. After working for a number of years in the teaching profession I decided while sitting on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi to get a job combining my passion for travel while getting paid - in 1999 I was introduced to Intrepid. India still remains my favorite place in the world... without a doubt.
8 years later I still have my passion for travel and Intrepid. I list India, Cambodia, Morocco and Antarctica as my favorite places. I have drank vodka in Russia, sailed the Nile, hiked the Inca trail, sat with penguins in Antarctica, enjoyed Khmer curry in Cambodia, sang with a Berber family in Morocco and stayed with the Masai in Kenya... what is next who knows - as I say to my family and friends - it is a tough job but someone has to do it!

After a few different careers (banking and massage therapy) and many life changing trips to 5 continents, I realized that travel is what I love to do and that I wanted to work in the travel business.
I feel so fortunate to be working for a company that offers 400 amazing trips around the world while also being committed to responsible travel and contributing so much to the local economies and people of the places we visit.
I believe travel makes us all better, more diverse people. I have lived in Thailand , traveled to Belize, Guatemala, New Zealand, Europe and Australia and will be heading to Egypt in January 2008. I look forward to helping you plan the trip of a lifetime!

For me, traveling INTREPID style has always seemed the most inspiring way to go.
At 6 years old I embarked on my first independent "intrepid" style trip. One day while walking home from elementary school, unable to fight the overwhelming curiosity, I hopped on a bus I'd never been on just to see where it went. It was an exciting journey of new sights and people; one I thoroughly enjoyed, although the driver seemed a bit miffed at the end of the line about returning me to school because I had no idea where to get off.
The desire for travel only increased into adulthood, where I found myself spending most my spare time (and a fair bit of work time) dreaming and plotting my next travel adventure. Whether a weekend escape into the Southwest desert of the U.S., or multi week rail adventures to explore remote villages of Central Europe, it didn't matter how long or how far, it all satisfied the rush of getting out into the new and unknown. On occasion, like chasing lost treasure in southern Arizona or chasing the Tour de France through the French Alps, those trips even parlayed into published travel stories.
After 9 years of teaching, telling students to find their passion and make it a career, I finally heeded my own advice. I left the education of classroom for the education of travel experience and embarked on a career path as a Trip Leader. From the highest mountain peaks and deepest canyons in the Western USA, to remote monasteries and bustling cities of China, on trains and buses, on foot and bikes, every experience of different cultures, fascinating foods and new friends, it was an amazing 5 year journey. That 5th year, when I was fortunate to become a Trip Leader for Intrepid, proved to be especially rewarding.
Now as part of the Intrepid team in Boulder, I look forward to listening to the places you are dreaming about, and using my travel experience to assist you in bringing that dream to reality. Where are YOUR travel dreams calling you?

Everyone calls it the travel bug, if you haven't experienced it yet... you will! Mine started when I was 15 and traveled the eastern coast of Australia. From then on I have had a desire to see the world-or as much as one person can in a lifetime.
So far I have touched four continents, soon to be five. I have hatched sea turtles in Costa Rica, lived in a Masai village in Tanzania, parasailed in Mexico, laid on the beach in the Bahamas, wrangled cattle in the Outback, and drank beer next to Windsor Castle (just to name a few). My next adventure is South East Asia and on to South America!
In between gallivanting around the world, I am living it up here in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. As I am a native, it is always nice to come back to homebase after one of my wild adventures.

Growing up in New Jersey I had an active imagination. Maybe it was out of necessity since it wasn't the most exotic destination but I made the most of it spending hours exploring my suburban surroundings.
After graduating High School my family moved to Florida. While absorbing southern culture in Tallahassee, I went on the road for the first time. 6 weeks out West and I was hooked but this was just whetted my appetite. The following year I studied abroad in Spain and immersed myself in the sights and sounds of Andalucia. Besides traveling Spain and Portugal, I spent 2 weeks in Morocco and 2 months backpacking Europe.
Following university it was either the Rocky Mountains or the skyscrapers of New York. First stop was Times Square to sell advertising for its namesake, The New York Times.
As much as I loved the city, the noise could never drown out the call of the West so I packed up and was back on the road. I landed in Summit County and fulfilled my dream of living at the base of a ski resort while learning a new trade in Human Resources.
But there was one more dream left unfulfilled. I wanted to live abroad again but this time in South America. I hired a permanent guide when I married my wife whom I met when she came from Chile to work for a winter in Colorado.
We spent a year in Santiago teaching English and traveled whenever we could. This year we decided to come back to the States and settle in Boulder so our son could grow up in the splendor of the American West and I've joined the Intrepid team. And now all those unfulfilled dreams of traveling to far flung destinations have found a way to spring up again.

Traveling is something that I cannot imagine living life without!
At 23 I decided to take a sabbatical from the "real world" and left Australia for Canada. I lived and worked in The Canadian Rocky Mountains for 12 months before breaking my leg and being lulled back to Australia. My parents suspected that the travel bug had only temporarily subsided, and they were right! After 4 months on crutches I left for England via South East Asia.
When my UK work visa approached expiry I breathed a sigh of resignation, expecting that I'd be moving back to Australia rather soon. One final summer traveling through Europe took me to Greece. I arrived in Kalymnos for some rock climbing, and met an American who invited me to come and visit him in Colorado. Two years later we are married and living in Boulder!
So, my sabbatical proved to be a life change. I love traveling, and believe it to be the best form of education for people of any age. There is always something to be learned through seeing different cultures. I love working for INTREPID because I can help other people realize their own travel dreams.
