Itinerary

With cobbled streets, wooden houses and impressive churches, the European-inspired capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, has a distinctly romantic air.
Stop over at Ambatolampy and Antsirabe en route to Ambositra, home of the Betsileo ethnic group and a great place to explore the craft workshops of the local people.
Spot lemurs on a guided walking tour of Ranomafana National Park and look out for the elusive golden bamboo, a type of lemur that is native to this region of Madagascar.
Embark on an adventure into the contrasting scenery of the Isalo National Park. Spot unusual sandstone formations and enjoy vast open grasslands.
Explore heritage-rich Fianarantsoa. Soak in the 19th-century charm, walk along labrythine paths and admire the flower-studded balconies of local houses. Visit a rice field and a Betsileo village to gain insight into rural Madagascan life.
Take in breathtaking mountain scenery on the way to visit Antsirabe's famed thermal springs, gemstone merchants and elegant French architecture. Head out on a rickshaw to explore the quaint streets of this town.
Travel northbound to Andasibe National Park. Stay at a lodge nestled on the outskirts of the park and set off on guided forest walks.
Visit Tamatave, the biggest commercial harbour in Madagascar, where the vestiges of an ancient fort watch over an old pirate's cemetery.
Travel by boat to the beautiful Ile Sainte Marie, a tropical, nature-lovers paradise filled with fragrant flowers and lush greenery. Scuba divers will enjoy diving on Sainte Marie, as the underwater sites are some of the best in the Indian Ocean.
