Celebrate the beginning of a wonderful culinary adventure with a traditional dinner at a restaurant whose owners can trace their lineage back to Mughal kings.
Weave through Old Delhi’s morning streets, stopping at a chaiwala for a theatrical morning brew, then grab a street food snack for breakfast. Visit the Jama Masjid, Delhi’s oldest mosque, before eating a delightful vegetarian feast at a local Sikh temple. This evening, perhaps head out on your own food adventure or choose to visit a traditional Indian family home for a hands-on cooking experience.
Wake early to catch the train to mesmerising Agra. Little can prepare you for the beauty of the Taj Mahal with its shimmering walls and intricate carvings. Explore this incredible site before visiting the equally impressive Agra Fort. In the evening head out on a chaat crawl. These savoury snacks are immensely popular across India and the Indian sub-continent and Agra in Uttar Pradesh serves up some of the country's best. .
Before leaving Agra, there’s a chance to see the Taj Mahal shine at sunrise. The beautiful Rajasthani town of Karauli is home to many beautiful shrines and temples, and it’s the perfect backdrop for experiencing local life. Stay at a heritage farm property that grows all its own produce, and enjoy a relaxed pace of life. Learn how to brew the perfect cup of chai with a local aficionado.
The ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur is magnificent in its whirl of colour and timeworn buildings. Wander through the astounding Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) and don’t miss the chance to see a Bollywood film at the Raj Mandir Cinema.
Visit the stunning Amber Fort and lunch on kachori, deep-fried bread stuffed with veggies and lentils. In the afternoon, be introduced to Rajasthan’s regional dishes in a cooking class.
Leave the city behind and visit a small rural village for a true insight into Rajasthani life.
Stay in a 17th-century fortress and dine on traditional dishes of the desert like ker sangri (spicy bean and berries) and lal maas (spicy meat).
Make tracks to Udaipur. Take an orientation walk around this ‘City of Lakes’, discovering its winding streets and shops full of traditional Rajasthani wares. Udaipur has numerous rooftop restaurants so perhaps climb some stairs, settle in and watch the sun set over shimmering water while dining on scrumptious local cuisine.

Travel to Mumbai and take a stroll along Chowpatty Beach at sunset. Snack on famous bhel puri, a delightfully crunchy mix of puffed rice, noodles, potato, onion and tamarind chutney. Stop by the Dhobi Ghat the next morning for the amazing sight of this 140-year-old open-air laundry in action. Wander through the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus then stop for lunch at a restaurant dedicated to the Parsi cuisine. Take high tea at the Taj and explore stalls piled high with rice at the mouth-watering Crawford Market.
Enjoy free time exploring this fascinating city.
Arrive in Goa, India’s Portuguese-influenced city by the sea. Check out the local fish and vegetable market before seeing all this delectable produce whipped up into lunch.
Spend a heady morning at a spice plantation and then choose to relax on Goa’s lovely beaches or trawl the shops for presents. Savour a final group meal of local seafood and spicy curry before toasting the end of this adventure with a fresh fruit lassi… or a nip of feni, a bracing local liquor.
