Laos is less developed than many other South-East Asian countries. The roads can be bumpy and delays are common. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful country!
There are some long days of travel, especially the journey to Luang Prabang. The mountain scenery on this journey is incredible, but if you're prone to motion sickness, some travel medication may be a good idea.
We stay in a homestay on this trip which most travellers find a fascinating and insightful experience. Read more about what it is like here: https://www.intrepidtravel.com/adventures/cambodia-homestay-experience/

The stories and history shared at the Killing Fields and S21 are confronting and many travellers will find them upsetting. This is an important part of Cambodia’s recent history that we feel is important for travellers to know. If you would prefer not to join these activities your leader can recommend some optional alternatives. Some further information on visiting the Killing Fields can be found here: https://www.intrepidtravel.com/adventures/importance-visiting-cambodia-k...
At times our accommodation may not have continuous hot water. Most travellers don’t find this a problem however, and are often keen to cool down from the heat with a refreshing cold shower!

I has a wonderful time with Intrepid visiting Cambodia and Laos. Our tour leader, Jay, was fabulous and had thorough knowledge of the two countries and the tour. I love Intrepid's ethical travel philosophies and the good they do within the local communities.
