Intrepid’s Short Breaks operate slightly differently to our regular group tours. You’ll be met by a local guide instead of a group leader, which will allow you to have more independence during down time.
This tour operates on a ‘join-in’ basis, which means other travellers may join activities depending on demand.
While this trip includes opportunities for several bush walks, they are not strenuous and a basic level of fitness should suffice.
The Okavango Delta water levels can drop very low before the rainy season, meaning some water-based activities may not be possible.
Temperatures in Botswana rise during the hot dry period of September and October and can get as high as 34–38°C. Lodge accommodation does not have air-conditioning. This is quite common across Africa, particularly in remote locations where lodges or camps operate on solar power or generators.
Botswana is a very seasonal destination. What you see and experience can differ quite dramatically depending on the time of year you visit. Please consider this before you choose your departure date. See the 'Climate and Seasonal' section for more details.
