Discover the beauty of Scandinavia and the Baltic States on this northern loop ending in Germany
Explore the highlights of Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland), before travelling back south into the Baltic states, with a few choice stops at Riga and Klaipeda, as well as Aukstaitijia and Curonian Spit National Parks. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are a few of the continent’s last true undiscovered secrets: the fairytale turrets and cobbled lanes of old Tallinn, the baroque flair of Vilnius and a fascinating (and poignant) history of Soviet occupation. This really is a one-of-a-kind itinerary. If there’s a beaten path through Europe, it sure isn’t here.
Norway's fjords feature some of the most stunning scenery on Earth. Cruise past waterfalls and snow-capped peaks through the narrow Naeroyfjord
Discover Stockholm's maritime history at the Vasa Museum, which houses an original wooden war ship from 1628. This impressive vessel gives you a rare glimpse into the naval power Sweden was once famous for
With its perfectly preserved medieval wall and watchtowers, Tallinn's quaint Old Town is a great place to explore on foot
Aukstaitija National Park offers unique opportunities for both activity and relaxation. Canoe across pristine lakes, indulge in home-cooked meals and cleanse yourself in a traditional sauna
Warsaw's Uprising Museum offers thought-provoking insight into the 1944 Polish resistance against Nazi Germany
The areas visited on this trip can be very cold at night throughout the year, especially at the start and beginning of the season. Please bring appropriate clothing for adverse weather conditions, including base layers, hat, gloves, scarf, coat and anything else that you think may be applicable.
As accommodation on this trip is twin-share, single travellers will share a room with another traveller of the same sex. The only exception is the overnight ferry from Sweden to Finland which will be quadruple share on a mixed gender basis. This trip is a great opportunity to get to know other like-minded people, so embrace it while you can. However, if you’d prefer not to share, a single room supplement is available at an additional charge. Please ask your travel consultant for more details. Also, hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together/apart. In some locations our accommodation has shared bathroom facilities, and guesthouses often have rooms of different shapes, sizes and standards.
This trip is designed to give you a fair amount of free time so you can explore each destination at your own pace. We will, however, take you on regular orientation walks, so you'll be on your feet quite a lot. While this may be tiring for some, it’s the best way to get your head around a place and to set yourself up for further discoveries.
This trip involves some long journeys via bus and train (sometimes up to nine hours). Although this can be a bit tiresome, it's a great way to sit back, relax and take in the passing scenery.
As this is a combination of 3 trips, your leader and the composition of your group may change in Oslo and in Helsinki.
This itinerary is valid for departures from 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019. View the itinerary for departures between 01 January 2018 - 29 September 2018
A Single Supplement is bookable on this trip, subject to availability at the time of booking. The price of the single supplement does not include the following nights, where a single room does not form part of the package. In this case you will be matched up with another traveller of the same gender. If a single room becomes available at check-in for these nights, there may be the option for you to upgrade to a single room and pay the surcharge locally for that night:
- Days 11-12 Norwegian Fjords
- Day 19 Overnight ferry
Please also note that due to the small properties we use in Europe there is only a limited amount of single supplements available per trip departure. If you would like to book a single supplement and enquire about availability please speak to your booking agent.
In order for our local operator to be able to buy ferry tickets we need your passport details. Please advise these at least 6 weeks prior to the trip's departure.
