Egypt can get hot in the summer months of July and August, but this is normally a dry heat and easier to cope with than humidity. Where possible we try and visit sites in the early morning before it gets too hot.
Accommodation aboard the Nile cruise is based on full board basis – alcoholic drinks are offered in the bar area at additional cost. An evening entertainment program is also available on board.
The walkways around ruins can be uneven, dusty and rocky, so be sure to bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. At major sites such as the Pyramids, Petra & Wadi Rum, you can expect to be exposed to the elements at length, so be prepared with a hat, sunscreen and plenty of fluids. A reasonable level of fittness is required.
Accommodation aboard the overnight train is in two-berth cabins which convert to bunk beds. All bedding is provided on board and western-style toilets are located in each carriage. Keep in mind general train cleanliness may not be to the same standards you are accustomed to.
In Wadi Rum we stay in a permanent tented camp with shared bathroom facilities. Please be aware that while the desert may be very hot during the day, it will still be cool at night and warm clothes and a sleeping bag is highly recommended when travelling outside of the summer months

Intrepid Ideal for both novice and seasoned travelers! Perfect balance for included activities and information for selecting optional activities. My trip was for my 60th birthday and my Intrepid Leader made me feel special. I started out anxious but by the end I was confident. Can hardly wait to book with Intrepid again!

I loved the trip - at times I was a little overwhelmed with the daily itineraries and felt we could have skipped Dana Wilderness Sanctuary and included Mt. Nero. But overall I think it was an incredible trip and I am so grateful that I went.
