This trip was fantastic: all included activities were great (Angkor Wat at sunrise is sublime and Halong Bay was breathtaking) but the most fun was always outside large cities: bike ride on an island outside Kompong Cham, bike ride around the rice paddies in Hoi An, jungle walk and waterfall swim in Chambok homestay, boat trips at Sihanoukville and Nah Trang. I think the 'adventure travel' aspect should be expanded. I could have honestly skipped Saigon and Hanoi. One little tip- always carry tissues: most public toilets do not have paper.

Intrepid provides an exceptionally well organised group travel service for exploring countries over a few weeks. They take all the language difficulties away from organizing local hotels/transport, and get you efficiently to the principal sites of interest in your chosen country. Beyond providing optional opportunities to fill your free time in each destination, you can explore as you please on your own. Intrepid sits very happily between the months/gap year backpackers experience and the 5* hotel/resort holiday. You will be pleasurably surprised though by the vividness of the local experience available, and the occasional unexpected luxury too!
