Explore the incredible Kruger National Park, Swaziland, Kosi Bay and Zululand
Sample the best of two stunning southern African countries on an eye-popping tour like no other. From busy Johannesburg, travel into Kruger National Park for an out-of-this-world African safari and then into the Kingdom of Swaziland, with its friendly locals and verdant mountain ranges. Chill out on the beaches of Kosi Bay, a World Heritage site famous for its lakes, beaches, turtles and fish traps. Enjoy a homestay in the heart of Zululand, camp under the glow of a thousand stars and relax in the glamorous seaside city of Durban for a varied taste of awesome Africa.
Go on a safari through Kruger National Park, one of the largest game reserves in Southern Africa
Feast on fresh Mozambican seafood at the seaside village of Ponta Malongane
Uncover the unspoilt wilderness of the Elephant Coast, a tropical paradise of crystal clear water, marshland, coastal forest and swamp
Visit the heartlands of the African Zulu and spend the night in a traditional homestay
Enjoy a hike through Hlane Royal National Park amongst antelope and zebra
While a homestay in Zululand is a unique and rewarding experience, the conditions are basic – foam mattresses on the floor, with up to six people (of the same sex) per room. Clean linen and pillows are provided.
Purpose-built overland vehicles are used for the duration of the trip. These multi-purpose trucks, equipped with large sliding windows, allow for excellent game viewing. There is no air-conditioning, however, so it can get hot and dusty inside.
The going can be slow over the long distances and often bumpy roads. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful land!
This is a participatory camping trip, so embrace the team spirit. You will be expected to set up and take down your own tent as well as assist with food preparation and cleaning.
As the early bird catches the worm, the early camper sights the animals. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.
1. A single supplement is available on this trip. Please speak to your booking agent for further information.

"This tour is an amazing way to get a taste of African life, particularly wildlife, in a short space of time. I had a ball and once again was really impressed with Intrepid's itineraries and leaders. I felt safe throughout and was so sad to leave! It is a basix trip, so you need to be prepared for some simple facilities, and enjoy camping! It was a real adventure." Can I just add - as there was no space to do it on the previous pages - that our driver Lolly (Lawrence) was also a really great guy. He was more than just a driver and helped and guided us throughout the trip alongside Jay. He was very approachable and professional. He too had to deal with some challenges from one particularly rude and bullying tour group member and I was amazed with how calmly and professionally both he and Jay dealt with the issues. They made what could have turned into a slightly sour trip a continually enjoyable one and I want to thank them for that!
