Why you'll love this trip
  • Witness the diversity of Iceland's natural phenomena – rootless craters, glacial lakes and geothermal lagoons. Visit Gulfoss, Iceland's largest waterfall, the famous Blue Lagoon, and drive through fields of lava.
  • Get to know Iceland’s gentle giants on board an eco-friendly carbon neutral sailing boat. This Exclusive Experience allows you to respectfully and silently spot whales with the help of an expert guide.
  • Stay in the stylish Fosshotel for your Feature Stay, offering up priceless views of the surrounding landscape, modern comforts and an excellent restaurant that uses the freshest Icelandic produce.
  • Gain an insight into how the eruption of Eyafjallajokull volcano in 2010 has affected the lives of the residents in the Hvolsvollur Valley, then take part in their tree planting project during this Exclusive Experience.
  • From a soak in the Deildartunguhver Hot Spring to a visit to a local artist’s stone carving workshops and a tasting session of Icelandic specialties, your Exclusive Experiences will deepen your understanding of Icelandic culture.
  • By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Intrepid Foundation partner, Eden Reforestation Projects. Donations help them provide local employment opportunities and tackle climate change one tree at a time as they restore forests across 10 different countries.

Is this trip right for you?
  • Iceland can be very cold at any time of year, so it's important to bring appropriate clothing. On the rare occasion that your leader has to alter the itinerary due to adverse weather, alternative activities will be offered.
  • Many locations on this itinerary are remote, which means a few long drives of around 6 hours. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the scenery and spend some time getting to know your fellow travellers. Of course, you will stop frequently for photo opportunities.

Iceland certainly knows how to leverage the wow-factor. A beautiful country, experienced with a great leader on a cup-filling itinerary. Mother nature at her best. This was the perfect trip to kick-off my extended time-off.

We had the most incredible immersive experience in Iceland with Intrepid. Aside from the stunning and unique vistas around every corner, our exceptional guide Gisli treated us to wonderful lessons in culture, zoology, botany, history, politics and many captivating ‘sagas’. Thank you Gisli - you turned this trip into a precious lifetime memory for us all.

"Premium Iceland" small group guided tour was all it advertised and more. The extra kroner are worth it if you want to maximise your Icelandic experience. You will experience more than selfdrive and avoid the morning breakfast room hassle of a big bus. Our guide, Margret ensured we had a great time.

First time travelling with a tour group and with Intrepid. The tour of Iceland was small numbers, informative, friendly, and totally enjoyable. I was extremely happy to have done Iceland with Intrepid.
