There is quite a bit of walking involved in visiting Jordan's historic sites, especially in Petra and Wadi Rum, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Most of the time there is no shade so remember to bring a hat, sun protection, and sturdy, comfortable walking shoes.
The desert camp in Wadi Rum is basic but incredibly memorable. There are tents and shared western bathroom facilities. Please be aware that while the desert may be very hot during the day, it will still be cool at night and warm clothes and a sleeping bag is highly recommended when travelling outside of the summer months.
The ferry to Nuweiba can be rough on occasions and those who suffer from sea sickness may want to prepare themselves. Besides this the ferry is frequently delayed or even cancelled at the last minute, patience is required for this journey. Please Day 5 of the itinerary for more details.
The Nile felucca cruise is an amazing experience, but it's not for everyone. You will be sharing a sleeping area with your fellow group members for the night and shared bathroom facility on board
The walkways around ruins can be uneven, dusty and rocky, so be sure to bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. At major sites such as the Pyramids, you can expect to be exposed to the elements at length, so be prepared with a hat, sunscreen and plenty of fluids.
Some hotels in Egypt may not have lifts, so on occasion you may need to climb stairs with your luggage to reach your room.
The temperatures in Egypt can reach all extremes, from very hot to very cold (it even snows in some places). Be sure to bring a varied wardrobe so you can layer up.
Accommodation aboard the overnight train is in two-berth cabins which convert to bunk beds. All bedding is provided on board and western-style toilets are located in each carriage. Keep in mind general train cleanliness may not be to the same standards you are accustomed to.

Our Jordan & Egypt Uncovered trips score an average of 4.58 out of 5 based on 12 reviews in the last year.
This trip is excellent if you are interested in ancient history and architecture. The breaks taken on the Red Sea, and the felucca balanced the busyness of the sight seeing. My advice to anyone on the felucca is to make sure you either bag a blanket early or make sure you can access your sleeping bag. We were not able to do either and froze. Secondly, we were disappointed in the choice of the final dlnner on the boat. Overpriced and tacky, and suitable for Peregrine groups, not Intrepid. We were not the only ones that were not very happy about the choice of the final dinner.

This tour is perfect for you if you want an in depth experience about these countries as a whole. Many different cities are visited and all have their unique culture and historical backgrounds. The accommodations were nice and clean. The foods we ate at restaurants were fantastic. I also loved this tour because there are days where we get to relax, shop, eat, swim or snorkel. These days were well needed after travelling long distances and sightseeing on every other day. Petra and Wadi Rum were my favourites in Jordan. Abu Simbel is a must, it well worth the added expense. Abu Simbel, Giftun Island and the Valley of the Kings were my highlights in Egypt.
