Where will you go?
Welcome to Intrepid’s most epic Real Food Adventure ever! We hope you’re hungry as you’ll spend the next 101 days eating your way around the world.
Start in Delhi and spend over three weeks discovering the sights, sounds and flavours of India. From Delhi to Kochi and via the ethereal beauty of Rajasthan, experience the beautiful sight of the Taj Mahal in Agra, the delightful taste of Rajasthan’s traditional cuisine in Jaipur and Udaipur, the colours of India’s markets and bazaars and how to cook up delicious regional Indian dishes in a number of inspiring cooking classes. Relax on Goa’s beaches, see Jaipur’s breathtaking Palace of the Wind, explore the vibrant food scene of Mumbai and spend time in rural Rajasthan living it up in a 17th-century fort. Wander around a tea farm in Periyar, take to the water on a houseboat in the Kerala backwaters and enjoy cooking demonstrations in Madurai and Kochi.
Choose to either stay in Kochi or move on to Hanoi for a few days of free time before meeting back up with the group in Hanoi. We’ll arrange your accommodation for you, just let us know which city you would like to spend time in when you book with us.
Meet back up with the group in Hanoi and get ready to experience the cuisines of Vietnam and Cambodia. From pho and ancient buildings in Hanoi to banh khoai and imperial citadels in Hue, banh xeo in the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, to the pulsating markets of Ho Chi Minh City – you’ll become intimately acquainted with Vietnam’s cuisine and its tightly woven place within its culture. Then cross into Cambodia where – with a delicate balance of pepper and French and Thai cooking – the nation has created an unpretentious but delectable cuisine all its own.
Continue to South Korea, a cuisine too long overshadowed by the gastronomy of its regional neighbours. To start, there's Korean BBQ – what's not to like about sizzling your own strips of meat on a BBQ set up on your table? But, with a smorgasbord of sauces, garnishes and pickled side-dishes accompanying every meal, dining in Korea is all about crafting your meal to taste. And, despite the prevalence of beef and Korean fried chicken, it's not all meat based. Vegetarian options are plentiful with silky tofu, glass noodle salads, sushi-like kimbap, and, of course, kimchi. Learn how to make green onion pancakes, slurp up spicy seafood breakfast soups, tuck into Buddhist fare on an overnight monastery stay and delve into the intricacies of the country's signature dish bibimbap in Jeonju, arguably Korea's foodie capital.
Enjoy a free day in Seoul, before landing in Tokyo to continue your food Odyssey.
Konichiwa! Welcome to Japan. Get ready to dive into one of the world’s most elegant and eclectic cuisines. Spend your time seeing the sights and scouting out prized eating and drinking spots. Watch yakitori sizzling in front of you in Shinjuku's Memory Lane, eat fresh-off-the-boat sashimi at the incredible Tsukiji Fish Market and learn to make soba noodles in a hands-on cooking class. Glimpse a geisha drifting through the alleyways of Gion while in Kyoto and experience a charming obanzai dinner of Kyoto-style home-cooked dishes. Stay in a traditional ryokan in Takayama and eat vegetarian shojin ryori (monastic fare) with monks in Koyasan
After gorging yourself silly on seafood and sushi, spend today digesting as you make your way from Japan to Mexico City.
From Asia to North America – prepare your stomach for the taste of Mexico on this journey through some of the country’s most famous culinary regions. Meander through Oaxaca’s aromatic markets; take to the streets of Puebla to sample some the city’s local specialties; indulge in fresh seafood on the beach; and take to the streets of Mexico City on a taco crawl to experience a delightful culinary heritage that goes back thousands of years. This Mexican food adventure is full of cultural richness, authentic experiences and flavoursome food that’s tinged with fiesta.
Spend your last day enjoying tostadas in Mexico City before heading off to Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
Discover the classic dishes and delectable delights of Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Savour shakshuka in Tel Aviv, feast on fish in Akko's Old Town seafood market, learn the tricks of tahini from the Samaritans of Nablus, break bread with Druze folk in Buq’ata and sample mouth-watering knafeh. In between these delicious diversions, float in the Dead Sea and see the holy sights of Jerusalem. Brimming with charismatic cuisine and rich history, this is an epicurean odyssey to remember.
The last stop of your journey is Morocco – a land where Berber, Arabic and European influences mix to create an adventurous culinary cocktail. Take a handful of bustling souqs, mix with a dash of sea and season with fresh local produce, all drizzled with warm Moroccan hospitality for an adventure that will linger long on the tongue and in the memory. Follow the smell of food through mesmerising markets and master recipes taught by those that know them best. Grab street food and share traditional meals with the locals before your epic food adventure ends in Marrakech.
