Itinerary

If arriving early in Jakarta, perhaps get acclimatised on a walk through the old town of Kota or head to the National Museum of Indonesia for a slice of history.
Climb aboard a train to Bandung, a bustling regional city in the heart of West Java. Enjoy a guided city tour and take in a Angklung performance in the evening
Travel south-east through many small towns and villages heading towards the lush Indonesian coast. Glide between the impressive caves of the Green Canyon and take a dip in the turquoise water before heading to Pangandaran.
Travel inland to Yogyakarta, a fascinating place that still embodies many practices of traditional Indonesian culture, despite becoming increasingly modernised. See the first rays of daylight break over Borobudur Temple and watch them disappear behind Prambanan Temple at sunset.
Get back to nature in Seloliman Reserve, on the slopes of Penanggungan volcano. Feast on fresh organic fare at the Environmental Education Centre and learn about the inspiring work being done by volunteers here.
Discover secrets of traditional Javanese medicine on a morning hike. Meet friendly locals and perk up with a pot of freshly brewed coffee. Hit the road bound for the cultivated landscapes of the Tengger Valley.
Rise before dawn to begin the trek up Mt Bromo. The sight of this steaming volcanic landscape bathed in morning light is about as good as it gets.
Make tracks to the beautiful coast of Bali and soak up a peaceful sunset on the steps of Tanah Lot temple.
Arrive in the quaint, leafy paradise of Ubud. With a vibrant local arts scene, bustling market place, cheeky monkey forest and lush rice paddies dotted among villages, Ubud is the ideal place to wrap up this Indonesian adventure.
Bali's largest Hindu town, Ubud, is also its artistic and cultural heart. There’s plenty of free time to browse the many craft shops. Enjoy a night market visit and Balinese cultural performance in the evening, and a guided walk through local villages the next day.
Take to the backstreets of Ubud and beyond on a bicycle. Stop and admire some of the intricately carved temples along the way. Afterwards, head to the hills and the peaceful, scenic village of Sidemen, set against the backdrop of Mt Agung, Bali's highest peak. This friendly village is a great place to chill out and meet the locals.
Learn the art of songket weaving at a local workshop before enjoying a traditional bungkus (take-away) lunch. Afterwards, trek into the mountains for wonderful views of Bali’s volcanic landscape.
Rise early and venture out into the cool, eerie darkness to climb Mt Batur. From the summit, take in the spectacular sunrise. For a sea change, head down to the coast for a day of snorkelling among some of Bali's impressive reefs in the Bali Barat National Park. Continue to the beachside fishing village of Lovina - a great base for exploring the north coast of Bali. Take the chance to head out on outrigger boats to view dolphins.
Leave the coast behind and visit Seririt Market and the tranquil Banjar hot springs. Discover a hidden waterfall before travelling inland to the picturesque mountain town of Bedugul.
Admire Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, one of Bali's most beautiful temples, situated in the centre of a glassy lake. Head back to Ubud, pick up some last-minute souvenirs or enjoy a final Balinese banquet before bidding this magical island farewell.
