Travel into the wild heart of Malaysian Borneo
Wild, tropical and remote, think of Borneo as South-East Asia's answer to the Amazon. See orangutans swinging through the rainforest treetops in Semenggoh, weave through the vast Mulu cave systems and spend a night in an Iban longhouse. Follow the Headhunters' Trail in Sarawak, wander along Kuching's riverside promenade and relax on golden-sand beaches in Labuan.

Explore one of the world’s largest cave networks and witness a sunset hunting exodus of millions of bats, twisting through the sky like a plume of black smoke in Gunung Mulu National Park

It’s best to pack light for this trip. There is a strict 15 kg maximum luggage limit on the included internal flights. Excess luggage will incur extra fees to the traveller.
A small to medium size day backpack is required for the time in Mulu NP and on the Headhunters Trail. Your main pack will be forwarded on, so there will be days when you don’t have access to it. Pack light and smart.
When staying in the National Park or at the Longhouse homestay, accommodation is multishare and can be basic. The unqiue atmosphere and wonderful location more than make up for this though.
This trip includes a number of wonderful long walks through forest and jungle, especially the 11.5 kilometre Headhunters’ Trail, so a good level of fitness is required.

This Intrepid Trip is a fantastic way of experiencing the nature and local culture that Borneo has to offer whilst meeting like minded friends. The trip is active and the accommodation is basic (but always clean). Highlights include spotting wildlife in the national parks, experiencing tribal culture at the homestay and of course being taken care of by our fantastic guide, Nizam.

Our guide Nizam was amazing; knowledgeable, approachable and enthusiastic. Highlights include seeing the monkeys in Bako, the Longhouse homestay in Miri - fantastic way to experience the culture firsthand and hiking through the rainforest. This trip is active with lots of walking and great ways to experience Borneo - good walking shoes are required as the terrain on Headhunters trail is quite uneven and a poncho to is required for the frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Travel lightly and packing smart is the key!
